I honestly thought this just was a testament to how strong willed these giants are. Locked down feigning death for centuries maybe only to remember the familiar aura of the same undead who got him there and smashed their conquest, he wakes from that to kill you even ripping off his own arm to use as a weapon. Incredibly strong willed giant race.

Holy shit, the moment it notices you and goes berserk trying to free itself. With the lore implication that this is the Lord of the Giants and that YOU defeated in the past just adds to it. It recognizes you, and it's desperately trying to release itself in order to kill you this time.

Is it just me, or does anyone else think this arena is the best looking arena in DS2? There's just something about it that I just can't resist coming back to and looking around...

The guy looks terrifying as hell and looks like he can literally pick you up and smash you into the ground, instantly killing you, but no, I started playing Dark Souls 2 a few days ago and I beat him first try. It's quite easy if you have good gear and some experience.

Coming back to this after Elden Ring is a bizarre experience.
I mean, it's just a giant in a room. Most of the attack concepts stayed the same all the way to the Elden Ring.
And they are not a boss in the ER; it's a staple normal enemy all around the Lands Between.
But I remember fighting this boss and thinking wow, what a cool fight! Now it feels so old fashioned.

Since DS2 was my first From game, this was my first exposure to DS bosses. I no-hitted him first try and I was like, "pfff I don't get the hype." Just so cocky.
