I don't care what people say, I loved DS2. I had no phone, no internet, and just this game for almost 3 months. One of the best gaming experiences I've ever had in my almost 3 decades of gaming.

“Men are props on the stage of life and no matter how tender how exquisite a lie will remain a lie” what a line that can apply to so many different things especially in our world.

I started this video thinking “oh god, 2.5 hours? I guess Ill just watch a few mins for nostalgias sake”. So much for that. Ended up watching the entire thing. Very nice video.

Everyone: talking about how deep and beautiful the ds2 story is

Me: giggling at "he uses his expertise.. To place a ladder"

Absolutely incredible, poethic and beautiful.
Dark souls isn't just a hard game series. Dark Souls is art.

Vendrick and Aldia have to be my favorite characters in the entire series. Their stories are completely interlinked with the player. The only difference is that their story tragically ended while still being told, and they refused to accept the outcome. It's extremely touching. They're maxed out players who beat the game and were so hurt that there's nothing left to do that they kept wandering the lands for answers, which in a lot of cases the player actually does.

They would just be bosses in the other games, not such deep characters. In the other games, you see many of the bosses perservere after death, but you don't get to familiarize with their struggles, at least not to this extent. Here you encounter the brothers after death, clinging to their habits, which you as the player can confirm are consistent with their past because the game does a good job showing the passage of time and showing how long they've repeated their behaviors. They're so determined in death that you don't feel cheated out of seeing their past, but you also don't feel a palpable disconnect between you and them. The game's endings confirm that their stories started out just like yours. You can chose the path of the King, or the path of the Scholar, in the end, but as for their past, you just PLAYED it. The gameplay really completes the story and it's actually incredible storytelling.

As King of Drangleic, who are your Throne Watcher and Defender? Lucatiel and Bashful Ray. Who are your main guards, the left and right hands? Vengarl and Benhart. Who is your queen? Shanalotte is. You have a kingdom, and you have all the things Vendrick and Aldia had.

Never seen this deep a dive into DS2. Love seeing all the connections you have uncovered! Really puts the story solidly into true canon with DS1 and DS3. Keep up the great work!

I just realized that ds3 ending where we painted a new world is exactly what Aldia wanted. “A path beyond the scope light light beyond the reach of dark”

"Men are props on the stage of life. And no matter how tender how exquisite, A LIE WILL REMAIN A LIE!"

This one line will forever be my absolute favorite Nr1 dialogue sentence in the whole souls series.

I don't know who you are, but you dedicated a lot of time to make a two and a half hour long video about the story of a game a lot of people despise. You have my subscription and my respect. This is going to be a good watch

My favorite Souls game! I love how the reason Last Giant is so angry with at the start is because you’re the one who helped defeat the giants in the past.

Dark Souls 2's story is underrated. It's a far more personal and subtle story.

I always assumed that the dragon above the Duke's Dear Freja was one of the dragons which was killed by Seath, not Seath himself. Either way, I went wild when I realized where I was during that memory, it's a shame they don't revisit it or show Gwyn/Nito/the Witch of Izalith/Seath fighting in the distance. That would have been amazing.

I couldn’t sleep so I normally put on a lore video but I listened to this so intently with my eyes closed and could imagine everything! The story is amazing wow

Dark Souls 2 is the one where the lore is still strange to me compared to the other, so... Cheers for making this.

My headcanon is that the repeated rejection of the cycle by Vendrick, then the Bearer of the Curse, then Prince Lothric was what allowed the flame to fade enough to cause the events of Dark Souls 3

Damn fine work here! I love that you take into account all 3 games, and show how the lore links between them. For example, I had never made the connection that the demons were dying out in DS3 because the Chaos Flame was frozen by the Ivory King in DS2. It's amazing how connected the games are, despite how different they appear on the surface
