I worked for my dad in the late 80's and we had a safe for the cash register. We take money in or out depending how much there was. However he never told us the combo. He would set it then we would rotate to the 3rd number and open it. Then we would rotate it back just enough so it wouldn't open but we could rotate it back to the 3rd number and still open it. He never told anyone the actual combo and we never reseted it. One night someone(s) broke into our shop and they broke into the safe with what looked like a sledge hammer though the bottom. They only got some coin that was on the bottom floor. The cash was in a box at the top they couldn't get into. Only if they knew they could spin it CCW to open it LOL

I have an old metal combination safe that got flooded. When I dial the combo it engages okay at the end but the bolt doesn't come open, maybe because it got rusted. How would I fix this and get into the safe?
