James L.Knight Center in Miami,Florida,1999

Composer : Jimmy Holiday , Eddie Reeves

Lyrics:

Sometimes when I'm sad and all alone,o baby,
Just like a child without a home
The love you give me keeps me hangin' on,oh God,yea,
All I ever need is you now

Your my first love, your my last and
Your my future, your my past
Loving you is all I ask, ohh
All I ever need is you, baby

Winters come and then they go
And we watch the melting snow
Sure as summer follows spring, all the things you do
Give me a reason to build my world around you

Some men follow rainbows I am told
Some men search for silver, some for gold
I found my treasures in your soul, yea
All I ever need is you baby

Without love I'd never find the way
Through ups and downs of every day,o baby
I won't sleep at night until you say
Ohh Babe, all I ever need is you

Sax Solo :

Some men follow rainbows I am told
Some men search for silver, some for gold
I found my treasures in your soul
All I ever need is you baby

Without love I'd never find the way,oh no
Through ups and downs of every day,oh yea
I won't sleep at night until you say
Ohh, all I ever need is you
I wanna hear you say
All I ever need is you babe
All I ever need is you
All I ever need is you
All I ever need is you

When I took piano lessons, I told my teacher that I wanted to play like Ray Charles ...
She said. "I can teach you Mozart and Liszt .... you'll have to have them, just to catch Ray"

I had not seen the man play the sax for one hell of a long time. Just kind of proving that he still had it! My Lord, how I still miss him.

This is a great example of the reason why Brother Ray was "The Genius"! He had such a marvelous knack for taking a song and by his interpretation, he would make the music appeal to an audience, who might have never given the original song a chance. RIP, Brother, and thanks for sharing your incredible talents with us all!

He did have a vision, that seems obvious to me. You don`t need eyes, you just need soul. I can see that..

راي تشارلز يبقى من عمالقة الفن و من الصعب أن يأتي مثيل له.

Interesting to hear him play sax. Not surprisingly it reminds me of his piano playing solos, my favourite being on “Worried Mind” — a casual feat of elision and laser accuracy and timing to explore the melodic kernel. This puts me in mind of Louis Armstrong. Yep, he’s that good.

RIP Peter Turre. What a blast it must have been to have been Ray's drummer for all those years. Ray Charles' music was a gift to humanity.
