The TFL muscle gets extremely tight and overactive. The TFL stands for Tensor Fascia Latae. TFL tightness can create a lot of hip instability and pain.
TFL tightness can also be confused with Piriformis tightness due to its location.

The reason why the TFL is an overactive muscle is that It works in all three planes of motion (the sagittal, frontal and transverse planes).

The TFL is such an abstract seeming troublemaker to the other muscles such as the quads, tibialis anterior, calves, glutes, and hamstrings, but with what it connects to below the knee cap makes it possibly a vital missed focus.

oh man...this is something that i would call "exquisite" pain...the pain was so great, after 30sec i had to stop to let the pain subside...
