By the way love your timing chain videos, I’ve used them on many chain replacements. I have repair programs but for chain replacements, I use your videos and your chains. Thank you, maybe by any chance you could send me a sign to my shop. I would definitely hang up a cloyes sign.

Real nice job! Just completed this on a friend’s truck. Lots of misleading stuff on YouTube, great to see a straight-forward and accurate how-to

i just finished putting my chain cover, all pulleys and belt on. Planned on starting it up tomorrow. Watching this video made me remember I forgot to pull the damn chain tensioner Now I have to undo everything I did today and redo it tomorrow.

Cody you make the timing of the 3v engine so easy and well explained to some videos i see they’re moving roller follower and lash adjuster and sparks plugs..So Cody the crankshaft key is at 12 o’clock and the timing mark is at 7 o’clock position..

Do you have to take the roller followers out of the 2 valve 5.4L engine also? Do you have a video on timing a 2 valve engine I just did a head job on it and need to know how to set the cams to do the timing. Thank you.

So I have a 2009 F150 I’ve replaced the timing chain and phasers after putting everything back together, the passenger side isn’t doing anything fuel working spark plugs are working. Coil packs are working, but it’s running rough only passenger side each cylinder is not doing anything. What could be wrong? Could it be the phaser or something else for the whole side not to be working.

I had a cloyes kit professionally installed on my 2 valve 4.6 ford. I’m hearing a faint howling type noise around 2000-3500 RPM that is consistent with throttle input. Has Cloyes seen this before on new chain kit installs?

Nice video, but you guys need to go back to the drawing board for your hydraulic chain tensioners. Used your kit in my 2008 F250 with 5.4 and the tensioner blew out and I lost oil pressure. Barely got home. I'll be sticking to Ford OEM for timing chain parts, but hopefully you guys improve

Everyone says the Cloyes phasers are junk.. how can they be that bad.. I thought Cloyes had a pretty good reputation

The passenger cam rotated almost 1/4 turn counterclockwise to rest. I turned it back so the chain links align with the mark with the phaser, but the cam is in the middle of a rotation. I had to hold it in place with the wrench while putting the chain on. All the marks line up, but I'm worried that the timing is still off because the cam was not at rest when I put the chain on. Should I take the chains off and rotate the crank?

Would it matter if you put the double links on crank sprocket and single on cam sprocket.
The number of links is the same in-between

Hello. Very good video. My son and I decided to replace the followers, lash adjusters and passenger side phaser on his 06 F150. We did not use the wedge to support the chain, choosing to instead use a bungee cord. When we reassembled the engine, the notch and slot on the cam / phaser were about 1 tooth off. I thought that maybe the cam rotated. I loosened the cam and realigned according to our painted alignment . We reassembled the engine. Ran great at idle, but rough in gear. Threw a p0016 code. I figure i slipped the timing chain one notch? Can you help us? Can i just rotate the phaser/cam 1 tooth? Any advise would help so much. The shop just wants to charge us 1600 to pull it all apart and replace everything .

do the timing chains have some play on some angles, when I rotate the engine to verify chain operation. I noticed on some rotations, the chain has play. before releasing tensioners I made sure slack was on tensioner side. Could this be a sign of worn cams as you stated?

the rebuilt engines have align bored cam journals and bearings installed . looks easy with engine out of truck!!

Read the fine print!!! Cloyes video here tells you to torque phasers to factory spec, 30lbs+90°. Well the bolts in the Cloyes kit says 90 lbs, be careful! Shot myself in the foot, hope this doesn't happen to anyone else.
