My Fuyu is about 18 years old and we get hundreds of fruits off of it. For years we struggled with what to do with so much fruit. Now we dehydrate a lot of it. Persimmons are wonderful when dehydrated and they are useful not only in a snack but chopped up in salad, oatmeal and cereal.

I use a food slicer to cut them into equally thick sections, just a tad thinner than one would slice a tomato for a burger. The cut the stem part out of the last section on top. After about two days on the dehydrator they are ready. I just found some in an airtight jar in the back of the pantry from 18 months ago.

I've started drying my figs as well. I cut them in half for better results, and they fit in the dehydrator trays better also.

I tried drying citrus. Blah! Most aren't good. You might want to do a few for a colorful potpourri, or maybe some lemons for hot tea. But that's it IMO.

In Africa they started a process where they keep mango trees low to the ground. It auds in higher yields and allows for less use of fungicides and insect infestations. Large trees wasted a lot of fruit and harder to maintain. With 30 percent of fruit ending up rotten, mis-ripened orcon the ground.

So helpful! We pruned our persimmon trees like this. They were planted last year and are the size of your Jiro persimmon, would you recommend picking off fruits that set this year so they can focus on branches the way you would a peach or a plum?

My native tree is close to 50 feet tall but it's lost lower branches recently for some reason? Looking to plant a couple more soon. Neighbor across the street has a beautiful tree about 25-30 feet tall with a 20 foot canopy. Holy cow, thing is loaded this year with at least three bushels of fruit. Deer gonna be fat this year! lol

Thanks I just harvested about 40 lbs of Hachiya persimmons. Idk how old the tree is we planted it 3 yrs ago. It is about 10 feet tall. Will your modified center leader work on my tree? This was a great video.

Is this specific to persimmon trees? I've heard that fruit trees can be pruned aggressively during winter months to maximize production and deter tall tree heights. I'm not sure if that requires dwarf varieties to start. Do you have any videos about this you can point me too, please, on this or your other channel? TIA! Grateful for your content!

Hi I love your videos. Was wondering if you could recommend where to buy the ICHI KI KEI JIRO trees. Thank you for your time

Great and informative; do you think they would grow good in pots?

I planted 2 asian persimmons in early spring. I have about 2 feet of growth. Should I Summer prune to limit height and get more branching?

Second year but still no flower. I only trimmed a branch since it grow towards the center early spring. So you say I should prune on winter but not spring? Also where's the link to how to prune? How do we tell if the tree is male or female since I haven't seen any flowers yet? What do we need to add to encourage flowering during spring? What should we do to prevent deer chewing the leaves?

I learned so much from your videos. Unfortunately I was late to prune my 2.5 year old persimmon and now it’s getting very tall. Can I dead head cut in the fall to keep him short ? Thank you

About how far from the fence is that Giombo planted, please? I'm getting ready to plan my Nikita's Gift in a similar location. Thanks!

Hey! Love the channel a lot. I recent purchased a Matsumoto persimmon . I have very tight spacing but still want to grow this variety. Issue is that it can get to 20ft. If I prune the central leader to 3ft( it's currently 6ft. Will this control the height so I can at least pick fruit at 10ft? Thank you
