Your channel just makes me more inspired to achieve your kind of garden, and I am so lucky I found your channel! Your channel makes me so happy and i just LOVE it! Funny thing, I just ate some permissions my mom peeled for me!:) Thanks for doing Youtube and making my day better and PLEASE keep on doing Youtube and gardening FOREVER so that I can learn a lot once I get to have my own garden! I also like how you explain all of the foods and the SPECIFIC name!:) You're so talented! I wish I could have a garden like you. (I also want chickens too!) Thank you again!

persimmons are such a gift for fruit lovers like myself... something late in the season to enjoy. your tree looks awesome. i have a nikita's gift in the ground that i planted 1 year ago. it hasn't showed much growth yet, but i remember you saying that "the first year they sleep, the second year they creep, the third year they leap". 🙏

I saw this post last night, and I’ve been waiting all day to finally sit and watch it. Persimmons are quickly becoming one of my favorite fruits, and I cannot wait until my two trees get as large and full as yours. There are a lot of astringent Asian varieties as well. My ‘Giombo’ is an Asian cultivar and has some of the largest fruits in circulation, but it is one of the few persimmons that blooms early and can be a frost risk, unfortunately.

James, your enthusiasm and passion for gardening are infectious. A lot of things about Youtube make me a bit jaded and pessimistic about the platform, but every now and then a channel like yours comes along and reminds me of the potential of Youtube and how it gives a platform to born educators and entertainers to do what they love best for a wide audience. Keep up the great work.

Persimmon trees are the prettiest in the winter. They look like they have christmas ornaments on them. I planted Nikita's gift a couple years ago after watching James enjoying it. Hopefully next year it will fruit!

The Persimmon (Diospyros virginiana) tree is a native plant here in southern Ohio, and they are very large trees - up to 50' tall. The fruit is delicious after a couple fall frosts, and they make some wonderful Persimmon Jam. The hard part is harvesting enough of them before the Raccoons get them.

Persimmons are one of my favorite fruits! I have 2 small trees in the front yard. Can't wait until I get to eat from them. Love the video, so informative.

Absolutely love persimmons. We have both the soft and hard persimmons growing here in South Korea. What I love to do with the soft ones is put them in the freezer and make persimmon sorbet in the summer. Mind blowing delicious! Also love seeing Tuck in every video ❤️❤️

James I appreciate your growing videos as someone who is local to you (Philly). Would love to see you do a video on how you preserve/utilize food that you grow throughout the year. Sometimes we grow too much food and don’t want it to go to waste. Freezing, canning, jams, freeze dry, etc…

My mother in law who lived in the depression era loved persimmons. Her favorite way to eat them was to put the whole in a zip lock bag and put them in the freezer. Then she would eat them like a popsicle!! She said as a little girl that was a treat on a hot summer day!!

Nice harvest with some really good information on branch angle and pruning. I've found persimmon wood to be brittle and the braches break easily rather than bending, so it's important to thin a heavy crop or support the branches.

Regarding pests, my biggest issue is mammals. I have to harvest my Fuyu and Haichiya before they're ripe or the raccoons will do a lot of damage to the branches.

Persimmon freeze really well and are excellent in smoothies with the frozen persimmon adding amazing richness. As a matter of fact, I was drinking one as this video dropped along with freshly harvested pomegranate. 😋

I bought 3 Asian persimmons, one last year and 2 this year. I am growing in pots until a bit bigger so they don't get ran over by my lawn care. Also bought 6 apples this year. Your information on care is very useful
