My Rv Was Broken into While I Was Sleeping

I woke up to a dude going through my stuff with a flashlight. Facing an intruder in my home at the middle of the night has been the scariest thing I've faced on my travels so far.

The majority of break-in's happen at the driver's or passenger's door to
gain entry. I solved that problem with some other things to mention.
First, I installed 10 mil thick window security film on ALL windows.
Second, I installed a mobile home dead bolt lock at the side entry door
in addition to the other two locks installed by the manufacturer.
Third, I rigged a ratchet strap between the two front doors of the cab.
I mounted a metal receiving ring on both doors on the frame. Then, I
attached each end of the strap to each ring and then tighten the strap
until sufficiently taught. No one can open the locks from the outside.
I asked my locksmith neighbor to try to open the doors...he couldn't!
Fourth, I placed a strong dowel rod in the track of the sliding windows
to prevent the windows to slide open. It would be smart to have an
extra set of side door lock keys on your person when venturing outside
the RV. Fifth, I own and conceal-carry a 9mm handgun. Never use a
shotgun. It just makes a mess to clean up. Especially if you have
carpet in your RV.

Glad to hear you’re alright... You need to develop a habit of always placing your keys, wallet, passport, etc in a place not easily accessible by doors or windows. We are often distracted when returning from normal activities or when in a rush. If you always put your stuff in the same... inaccessible place, it can reduce your stress and situations like this... Yours is about the fourth break-in like this I have seen on You Tube is the last thee months posted by full time travelers (in US)... it is sad, but required to be more pro-active to save problems later... too many folks in need or looking for an easy target at someone else’s expense. Good luck developing some good safety habit for your journey.

I know some people who were sleeping in their home their alarm kept going off starting around 1am it would wake them and they found nothing. After 3 times they shut the alarm off thinking the alarm was malfunctioning because it kept waking them up was becoming a nuisance . What was happening a burglar was opening a small kitchens window causing the alarm to go then close it wait an hour and do it again. When they went a 4th time no alarm they got in and stole lot of things even took their wedding rings off and money off their nightstands while they slept. When they woke up in the morning found the front door open little lot of things missing. These people were elderly didn't hear so well probably lucky they didn't wake and confront them.

Aika hurjalta kuulostaa meno sielläpäin Eurooppaa nykyään. Berliinissä joku murhattiin sun viereen ja Ranskassa tämä on jo toinen kerta kun joku tunkeutuu sun autoon. Onneksi jäin Suomeen, täällä on kaikki vielä todella hyvin. Mulla oli pakussa lähes aina joku ovi lukitsematta, koska keskuslukitusta ei ollut, ja Helsingissä nukuin kuumina päivinä jopa pakun sivuovi kokonaan auki.

Why don't these people have guns?? Keep at least 2 guns in your room and anywhere else that you can reach them easily. I guess people are just scared of guns, I dont get it.
