Shes not evil. She just wants to undo the evil things that happened at the factory. She keeps the player there because she knows they can help her right these wrongs.

I really don’t think she’s evil. To me, it seemed like she felt like she had to trick to player to get them to help her.
Her cut lines from the ending make me believe this even more, given that they feel a bit more emotional, genuine and almost guilty.

There’s a secret ending/ old ending with more dialogue and it shows more of why Poppy did what she did. It was cut out in the end for whatever reason. The hidden dialogue proves the betrayal was for a good cause.

I hate how almost everyone hated poppy, calling her a betrayer. Then started loving her and considering her as their favourite character after they knew the truth.
Ppl who consider her their favourite character are the people who actually believed that she wasn't evil; and that she didn't betray us.

Poppy isn’t really evil, but she’s not a good person. She wants to keep the player so she can undo the wrong doings in the factory. It’s why she didn’t let us escape, she literally says at the end of the game “terrible thing have happened here” “I’m sorry, but I can’t let you leave”but that’s just my opinion.

Honestly, poppy isn't evil, rather just kind of using us (for good purposes supposedly, yes-- but still using us) to aid her in her own mission. I actually like how she's more in the grey zone in terms of alliance, rather than being completely evil or completely good like people speculated before chapter 2 came out.
