A decrepit orphanage known as Playcare sits beneath the once magical toy factory. You must make your way through this haunted place, solving new puzzles and avoiding the nightmares that lurk within the dark. Answers lie between the blood-stained bedsheets and screaming echoes... The hoppyhopscotch one gives me chills cause it’s basically saying she fell to her death

Dog day last voiceline is very sad and violent as you can hear him screaming and you can hear his legs grtting delivered then getting cut off and then it falls to the ground

Fun fact: All of the ‘male’ smiling critters (Bubba, Kickin, Dogday) only have voice lines before the static. The ‘female’ ones (Picky, Hoppy, Bobby and crafty) either don’t have the static or once you click the button they have a voice line before the static.

Based on their cardboard cutouts, I have a theory on how the other Smiling Critters died. Remember, im just guessing:

Bubba Bubbaphant and CraftyCorn suffered psychological breaks.

Hoppy Hopscotch and Kickin' Chicken died trying to help others escape during the Hour of Joy. (Based on the cutouts, Hoppy fell to her death and Kickin' was probably ambushed)

Bobby Bearhug got lost in the caverns and never found a way out.

Picky Piggy starved to death sometime after consuming the corpses of Bubba, Kickin', and Crafty. (It's indicated Hoppy fell to her death, and as stated before, Bobby got lost and was never found, and we all know what happened to DogDay, so thats why she didn't eat them)

And we all know what happened to DogDay and CatNap.

That's my guess on what happened.

Theory: Picky Piggy ate everyone except Dog Day and Cat Nap (and others I'm not checking lol), saying all of the names of the animals they are in her voicelines.
They all were her friends, and she had no-one left since she couldn't find Cat Nap or Dog Day, so she asks player to be her friend; to eat them.

My theory is that DogDay’s voicelines are actually him telling you to escape the factory and run away “as far as you can.”

Leading on the theory that the cutouts show how they all died, bubba was driven insane by horrible memories of the past, most likely the experimentation, kickin tried to escape, catnap is self explanatory, piggy, simaler to miss delight, started starving and eating everyone, probably messing with his functions, and ate till he dropped, or he started making friends with the kids but really leading them off to eat them and catnap protected them, hoppy tried to escape with some kids, Bobby had made friends with an employee or one of the doctors and became very dependent and lost it when they died during the hour of joy, dogday…. We saw, and crafty corn is actually a little difficult to figure out, but I think she started killing the kids and catnap protected them.

i said this in another place so im gonna put it here too: i think the cutouts of the smiling critters all are essentially grave markers, and give insight on how they died.

bubba was at the enterance, along with kickin. kickin said that he wanted you to come with him outside, and then violent screaming as he left. i think that kickin convinced bubba to try and escape, and make it all the way over there before catnap killed him first, bubba then making it a bit farther, before catnap cornered him. at that point he tried to appeal to capnap, saying that he remembered when he was nice, and when things were good, and catnap killed him mid sentence.

picky seems to have eaten the bodys of her friends, at least the ones that would have been recoverable, that being bubba kickin and crafty, and most likely one of three things happened. after this she couldn't find any more food and starved to death in home sweet home, catnap got mad and wouldn't let her have any food after she ate their former friends, or catnap got mad and proceeded to kill her.

hoppy was after the school and right next to a catwalk into the caverns, hoppy most likely completely broke down after everything that happened, and committed suicide via jumping off the catwalk her cutout is next too.

bobby was at the entrance to playhouse, catnaps home. seems to have gotten extremely attached to catnap, and tried to follow him everywhere he went. catnap did not reciprocate and eventually let bobby die in the maze of the playhouse, getting lost inside and then consumed by the smaller ones. interestingly, hers didn't have a scream, which indicates an even worse fate: she never died and is still alive, lost somewhere in the maze of the playhouse never to find a way out.

dogday was of course at the place near where he finally lost you, and where he died. this time the cutout is adressing the player, telling them to run, to leave, and that they couldn't stay, and then died when he was eaten alive from the inside out. the prolonged screaming indicates that he may have even still be alive while chasing the player in some capacity, but his body taken over.

crafty was in the councilors office, and most likely ended up going insane to some capacity after the hour of joy, and eventually became enraged at someone else, trying to take more "red paint" from them and attacked. the very short scream indicates this attack was.. *extremely* unsuccessful, possibly against catnap.
