This was a kick! Thank you for sharing all of your talents with us. It is also fun to meet more of the folks in Hamilton. I feel like we are neighbors all brought together by Jenny.

Great tips! I also like using a magnet (similar idea to the tape) and having the fabric butt up next to that edge.

Like your idea and Amy Snawder's; thanks.

Another way to use the blue tape is to put it in the right side at the 1/4"mark, stack a few tape layers on top on one another and then use that as a wall to butt your fabric against.

Hey Rob, my dad taught me how to sew and cook so your show causes me to gravitate toward your style. I love your use of masking tape, painters tape, duct tape etc. As my tools seem to make reappearances in my sewing room. I could use some of your insight with respect to organization and also, the kids. We have tons and when possible, I try to include

Rob, I know this vid is a bit old or I;m a bit late, lol, but my Singer has lines on the flat plate but no numbers.  How would I measure from the needle, or from the edge of my fabric? Love your tutorials.  Have learned a lot from them.

Do you have any tips for a perfect 1/4 inch seam when sewing a half-square triangle?  These tips were great.  Right now, I am working on a quilt with a bazillion half-square triangles.  Should I mark each sewing line to keep consistent or is there a trick to getting there easier?    Thanks!

you can also stick a piece of thick card on the outside of the foot :)

I have a quarter inch foot for both of my Janomes and thought that just putting it onto the machine and butting the fabric up to the blade would give me the quarter inch seam. NOT :( I learned that I need to move my needle to the right . I wish someone would have told me before I found out the hard way.

Hi Rob! Love your tutorials! On another tutorial video I noticed that you have a metal device that is actually screwed in to your machine to guide the fabric. Is that your own invention or can I buy one like it somewhere? Forgive me if you have already covered this subject in another tutorial.

Hey, Rob, I have a question. Do quilting instruction measurements usually include the quarter-inch seam allowance or does everyone assume that you know to add 1/2 inch to the measurement? I'm cutting pieces for my first (baby) quilt (God help me) and the instructions state that I need 30 6-inch squares. Does that mean 30 6-inch plus 1/2 inch OR 30 6-inch squares that, when pieced together, will be 5/12 inches? I could probably figure this out, but I'd rather ask an expert. Thanks!

I love the painter's tape idea. By the way, where do you get all those cool t-shirts?

Rob, what is the name and type of edge guide that you use in your videos - the silver guide wit the screw?
