Scots Gaelic meaning “Traveler”

This Original Slow Air is an inspired tune. Played on the Bagpipes from the heart and soul.

Story behind Siubhail:

"There are moments when I feel the Bagpipes can truly take the listener and the Piper on an inner Journey. At times the sound of the drones carry me back to Scotland and echo an inner desire to be "Home" again. When I feel homesick taking my Pipes to some beautiful and open space gives me wings to fly high and travel home.
The history the pipes carry are steeped in Military History. I find myself being asked to play at multiple Military events and most often funerals. Acting along side the military honor guard at these funerals is a complete honor.
The day this tune came to me I was at a Military Funeral. Usually I have a specific tune I play while setting up the Pipes. It comes natural to me to play the same tune. On this occasion it was no different. I struck in the pipes in and began to play. The tune that moved through my fingers was NOT the same, it was unknown to me, but all the same felt natural to my fingers. The strange sensation of feeling as though I was the listener and NOT the Piper was unearthly...magical. As I cut off the pipes, I felt as though I was given a gift. Quickly I hit the recording button on my phone and played this tune again. I knew that if I didn't record it I would forget what I heard.
As I drove home, I listened to the recording and felt as though this was given to me by some unknown soldier who loved the Bagpipes at the cemetery. He wanted me to have it, to record it, and share it with others. With you.
I hope this echoes deep in the soul of all who listen to this tune as it did for me that day. This moment will never be forgotten.
Heres to all who believe in something more than themselves.

Slàinte, Tress the Dark Isle Piper"

Sept 2019 my grandson age 15 died, this was the entry tune as his coffin was carried into the church for his funeral - every time I hear this I am reminded of that day and the 450+ people who attended to pay their respects to him and say goodbye to him.

Dear Dark Isle Piper, I discovered your channel soon after my good wife, Kathleen, a Scot, passed away on St. Andrew's Day, 30th November, 2023, after several months of illness.

We were married for 27 years, we lived in Lancashire but it was always her wish to return one day to her homeland Scotland. I'm sad that I couldn't make that happen in her lifetime but I had her repatriated for her funeral and burial in Alexandria, Dunbartonshire. I also arranged a piper to play a lament for her when her body was carried into the parish church. I was looking for a suitable piece and I chose Flowers of the Forest after searching YouTube and discovered your wonderful performance of this piece and its majestic setting. It is nearly three months since she passed but in that time I have listened to your performance over and over again, as I do your other pieces, and I am reminded of her identity as a Scot and celebrate her while I yet mourn. It often brings me floods of tears in my loss but great joy in knowing she rests in her beloved homeland as she would have wished. Thank you so much ❤❤❤

Thank you. This means a lot to me. I long to see my home again, Gortahork, Ireland. Sure this may be Scottish, but such a sweet Celtic tune reminds me of my home. Hopefully someday in the not so far future, I'll smell the mountain air and turf that burns humbly in the tavern kiln. Again, thank you.
