I left my religion almost a month ago. It was gradual of course. But one thing is certain: I’m still the same person. I think people leaving their belief think they’re damned or will find truth somewhere else. But the reality is that nothing will happen. Muslims and Christians are so particularly sensitive about people disparaging their religion. I just find it odd how Islam which came before Christianity which came before Judaism which came before Zoroastrianism which came before Fertile Crescent religions is the truth. How are any of these the truth? They’re copycats. They were literally the same story rewritten based upon the cultural and regional context of where and when they were written. In fact, with a bit of research, (which Muslims and Christian’s rarely do any kind that is against their beliefs), you can see that all religions from the ME and Asia believe in the nearly the exact same thing. That does not justify their religion being right about there being a true god told in different forms though. It’s actually quite the opposite. All of those followers claim they’ve felt or seen God but in reality they’re giving in to confirmation bias to supplement their beliefs. Example: Devout people claim to almost get killed or die and that they were protected. But no, that was not god saving them for a greater purpose. They just so happened, coincidentally, to do something that kept them alive. Inanimate objects aren’t possessed or sent to kill them. I am regretful to say it was luck because (spiritually) it’s not a thing. In basic terms though it is luck. They’re lucky to have survived. Religious people mentally cannot fathom the concept that they are not predestined or saved by a god. A Muslim can tell me that I should read the Quran or learn about Islam better but the truth is that I’d just be reading another copycat story written by the hand of a human with a good imagination. And for many it’s hard to reconcile. It has created many virtuous people but the bad outweighs the good. And I’m not fine devoting my life to a god who would abandon his creation. Which never happened in the first place because it’s made up.
