For anyone who lives in California, I'm currently building a 40'x60'x16' red steel building and the total price is close to $80, 000 to get the building erected on the foundation/slab. That does NOT include any electrical or plumbing. Here's a price breakdown: $35, 000 for the building with two 12'x14' roll up doors, five 4'x4' windows, one sliding glass door, two man doors, one ridge vent, gutters, and insulation. $21, 000 for the foundation/slab that is 4" thick for a 40'x40' section and 6" thick for the remaining 20'x40' section. $20, 000 for erection. $1000 for foundation engineering. $1000 for earth work (this may be much more expensive but we already had a fairly flat pad). $2000 for permits.

Utilize your cubic footage by installing warehouse racking (think Lowe’s & Home Depot) to store things up off the floor. I took a load of 2’ deep racking from GOT RACK in Tampa to my cousin on Old Furnace Road in Boiling Springs. It really gave home more floor space because he was able to store stuff on the shelves rather than on the floor. “Keep on Keeping on!” Tim @ Cliffside Acres

Nice shop ! I’m just now in the dreaming stage. Hopefully one day I’ll get it done!

Great video. Garage envy here. I keep outside tools near the door. They get changed seasonally. The leaf blower I use that year round. Right by door.

What do you do? Mechanical work? You will need a lift, racks for storing things off the floor. A/c heat for the shop, not just the office. Setup the office as a man cave. Open up the ceiling above the office for long term storage. Insulate the storage area and vent some air from the office to keep it from freezing. Seal off one garage door. You will be surprised how long it will take to warm up / cool down the garage after you open the door. Once you use the garage a lot you will curse the poles in the

I would have at least two airhoses with the own windup reel. One near the front doors for quick access to air and another at the back of the shop near a workbench. I agree with other people commenting but you definitely need a sink. Maybe get a part/tool cleaner (solvent tank). Those are very handy for car parts or dirty projects. Also maybe turn your back room into a office or area for friends and you to hang out. Need a refrigerator also!

Nice building, I would be very proud of it, but I have to have windows, at least in the roll ups, me being an outdoors person too I just like to see out, especially out in the countryside. I have long skinny slider windows about shoulder high so I can see what’s going on. I have dogs and other farm animals and it seems like there is something always going on I need to intervene.

Nice video. I may have missed it but compressed air? Also, a sitting area for friends, refrigerator and music. Definitely need a sink. Nice shop with tons of potential.

Have you thought about hanging the bikes & kayaks on a wall or better yet above the trailer from the roof to give you more floor space? There are several hoist or cable systems that make it say to hook them up and simply pull them up out of your way. Looks like you have a good start!

nice garage, I am looking at the same size or rather thinking, based on your current tool selection, how much did it cost to have this installed including the concrete if you don't mind me asking..?

i love the size of your garage. How much do you think it would cost to build a unit that size, 40x60? You got the building with your land purchase but that doesn't tell any of us views what we can expect to pay for something of that size. Ty.

Okay these are the things that you need for your shop you need a picnic table so you and your friends have somewhere to sit you need a beer refrigerator and you need a small 5th wheel that you can put inside your shop so you have a place to hide out at when the wife is fighting with actually know somebody who did that

I watched this video and the one you did answering questions about the green 36x48 post frame shop. I learned a lot from these videos and I want to build something similar here in Texas. Do you know if both of these buildings were built by the same company? Are you noticing any quality/construction issues after having these buildings for a while?

Find it amazing you have so few people interacting with comments on your videos! Tim @ Cliffside Acres

good video, getting ready to build one myself in Idaho. Same size 40x60. Also have a 2013 Commander and I think I'll go the Pole Barn route. I plan to have power, water and natural gas in the building and I also plan to have raised footings on the front, rear and sides with 3 bay doors. 16' 12' in the front & 12' drive thru to the back. Couple of man doors and windows for light and ventilation. Looks like you have a forced air furnace for heating/cooling? you didn't mention anything about that but I like that idea as well. Thanks! good job!
