Yeah, I have some issues with your video. 1. Magnus hates the format which is the official reason for his abandonment of Wcc, and wants a world cup styled tournament to decide it. 2. Also Magnus said himself that he thinks Garry is the best chess player. 3. Magnus stated in world cup that he thinks there are finally young players who are worthy of succeeding him, and reiterated that the time could be fairly soon. 4. He said that he wanted to play firouzja in the next world championship, but it didn't happen. 5. Focusing on the 2016 world championship only seems to be a bit misleading, since according to your video it seems like Magnus has a fear of losing but looking at the other world championships after that it becomes apparent that it's not the reason he quit.

That's normal behavior really, and a very smart decision. Many athletes today, and in the past have retired when they are at the top of their field. Why? Who wants to be the top of their field only to lose it all?

Only fools continue on in something they no longer have the hunger for. Magnus isn't as hungry as he once was. He's gotten older, and maybe has become more wise.

I know many folks regretted going on when they should have quit when on top. All it takes is a string of losses, and you're looked upon as a hapless has-been, and I know many people would be crying out asking 'Why Magnus did you go on, why didn't you quit when you were on top?'

What Magnus is showing is that he has wisdom, and there is nothing cowardly about stopping when you're on top.
