i’d call this under-explained rather than overlooked. it might be just me but with the descriptions given, it makes me think that it would only be useful when i have collected lots of runes while going through an area and want to keep progressing instead of heading back somewhere to spend them.

I convert all my runes into smithing stones and sell them later at 50% of the purchase price when I need runes.

found this out on my second character and it basically trivializes losing runes altogether if you use this on the regular, lasts 3 minutes and you just keep your runes when you die.

Nice QOL change btw that the tears now show their exact duration, instead of just "briefly Kappa" "a while Kappa" and "really briefly Kappa"

same mechanic as the ring of sacrifice back in dark souls. but rune in elden ring was so easy to farm that make me value it less, i feel nothing even if i lose more than 100k rune

Dark Souls trained me to not care about Soul recovery too much as it always caused more problems, and most likely the next 3 mobs in a new area gave me the same amount of Souls anyways.

It's legit a Sacrificial Twig on demand. I drink this whenever an enemy is about to destroy me.

I knew abt the twigs but I hadn’t realized the tear would give u back ur runes if u intentionally died after already having lost them. That’s a huge help since it’s basically infinite like u said. Can’t believe I nvr thought to try it myself

If you lose your runes in the Elden Beast arena, and then beat it before picking your runes up. The runes will be lost forever because you can never go back to the Elden beast arena after defeating it.

My memory may be failing me, but I thought in my experimenting that the twig will keep your dropped runes where they were, but the tear only prevents you from dropping your runes on next death?
