I love this song! I'm French and some things in this don't apply to our educational system but it's still right! School teaches you that you have to be "a grade" before being a human being and so they put stress on you for things that only matter within the walls of said school (can you do math? Are you better than the people sitting next to you because you have a better grade?... Pressure linked to the grade is actually put on both students and teachers who receive a bonus depending on their student's grade).
And it's not even about learning or becoming a real adult or even learning about the things that really matter to every single one person in a class (like an unbiased view on politics that students won't be able to get at home) it's about how much you can memorize at the end of the day and, yeah, memorizing stuff is important but it doesn't help you developing other parts of your brain that aren't stimulated by school!
Furthermore, programs aren't designed for the students (standardised and generic tests, lessons that last for hours when a child's attention span isn't even 10 minutes... ) and so many of them feel left out (no place for art in the programs...). And that's just the beginning of the problem!

Math is bullshit. I failed Grade 11 math because i'm really bad at it and my teacher just could not teach it. Poor guy had a lot of students disrupting the lessons. -I'm graduated now since 2015 btw thank god.- Anyways as long as you know the basics such as, adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing and the occasional length, width, surface area shit, you should be fine. I can understand that some people need to use those complicated formulas because of the career path they choose, like engineering. But what about the people who don't need to learn that stuff AT ALL. It's a waste of time when you could be learning something else that is vital to your future. Students deserve the right to choose what they want to learn because they're there to be educated about useful information that will help guide them into adulthood. Where are the classes that teach you about job interviews, resumes, paying taxes/bills, mortgage payments, etc. This video always gives me chills whenever i listen to it. He's so passionate about what he's rapping about and it's the sad truth about the school systems. I'm happy to see that you reacted to this! It's definitely an eye opener.

School isn’t about learning for your future, It’s about passing and a grade, you could be the smartest person to live, but not like school, and fail all your classes because you aren’t engaged, but that doesn’t matter, you grade does.
