Mum tries out Chromium OS 27.0.1441.1 (2013)

Ever thought of buying a Chromebook? It's cheap, portable and looks decent on the outside but is the operating system known as ChromeOS that runs on it going to suit you? Well Diana has given it a whirl and although she thinks its very affordable she doesn't believe it's for her.

The mother in this video uses Windows XP (2001) as her main OS duel booted with Elementary OS (a fast Linux distro). Would you like to see her try out Linux, Mac, Windows or other operating systems through history such as OS/360 (1966)? Then give your suggestions in the comments section. Give this video lots of likes, views, favorites and comments if you want my mum to try out other operating systems. I am open to any operating system suggestions you give especially if these videos go semi-viral (over 100,000 views). This channel is dedicated to me "introducing" people (mum, dad, me) to different operating systems they have never used before and leaving them to suffer in confusion struggling to do anything in an unknown computer environment... or see if these other operating systems are better than Microsoft Windows.

Its a strange idea for a youtube channel but since its so popular I continued it. It started off as a channel to knock off Windows 8 and point out it's flaws but then when people liked the concept I evolved it making her test operating systems from all different eras.

The light outside and the light on the computer monitor combined always seems to mess up the auto focus on my camera. By putting the camera up to the screen it allows you to easily see the text and stuff on the screen and it also prevents the auto focus problems.

It was running in virtual box with the premade virtualbox image. Try using that version rather than a bootable cd version.

After using a Chromebooks for a sufficient time, I can safely say that it was the best $200 I've ever spent. I did install Linux via chroot, but I haven't used it in forever, and it probably is just taking up space on my SSD. Even offline, I can write documents, view anything saved to computer (and everything that I've checked for offline use in Google Drive), etc. It's amazing!
