You should come to South Florida in August, see how it compares. At least we have beaches and swimming pools in the backyard.

I usually come to Japan in Oct and Nov. Skip the heat and skip the cold. Thanks for taking one for the team Nixy.

I spent 3 months in Atsugi (June-August), loved it. As a FL resident I saw no difference.

Summer in Japan it's terrible.
It's worse than you imagine
It's too humid and hot.
I feel I can't even breathe because of too much humidity.

I have passed out no less than 2 times during the peak of the Japanese summer due to heat exhaustion. It can happen to anyone and when you least expect it.

This year 2024, it’s so hotter than I expected. Recent days the climate has become more calm, 34 degrees. In July, it’s so hot, marked 38 degrees. It’s insane to work outside.
Now it’s too difficult to forecast the climate for planning trip.

As someone from South East Asia, this all just seems like Skill Issue to me

Have you ever been bitten by one of those centipedes?

Sounds a lot like what we experience here in Florida actually! Wonder if it would feel a bit like home over there in summer :)

My brother spent about six months in Japan and pretty much hated it. He said he couldn’t believe how bad the humidity was especially to any posters he had. Daily he had to reposition them as they would start to wrinkle off the walls. I remember him also saying something about making sure the shoes are dry as in the humidity they would quickly become mildew.

True to all but the weak AC. My experience in Osaka is that you best pack a coat if you are going to malls or department stores!

Completely agree. There are ways to survive but it kinda means avoiding being outside. Have you tried the icy donut necklaces, or jackets with the fans?

I was therefor 2 weeks during Tokyo's record hot summer and I LOVED it! It was the first time since I was a kid that my bad back didn't hurt and I slept like a baby every night. I've never felt that relief once since coming home.

I've spent several years in Japan off/on and really didn't mind the heat and humidity. What I didn't like was being out in direct sun. In the shade isn't that bad.

I’m Australian, it’s worse here, unless you live somewhere south (Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney etc) most of the cities are in the south for a reason 😅
