I had similar situation, my older sister got everything she needed and wanted, i didn't even have my own room and lived in a opened space near the kitchen, 20 years later my family wonders why i don't keep any contacts with my sister and them. It is what it is.

My parents bought my sister a car for her 16th but I had to buy my own "to teach me responsibility" (even though I was younger and had a job before she did and I had never been in trouble before, she got caught shoplifting from Academy twice)

On the one hand getting a car is a nice privilege to receive, but on the other seeing your sibling obviously treated better than you is always going to really sting and make you feel like shit.

That’s exactly how my dad was raised. He had to work multiple jobs through his childhood and was neglected and hated for being a son while my aunt got whatever she wanted. My dad was even prevented from seeing my grandma in the hospital before she died, they only let him in after she had passed (by request of my grandparents, not the hospital itself). Needless to say we have grudges against them and take everything they say with a grain of salt (they try to make the past seem better than it was), though my cousins are fine.

Middle child here. Older brother got a car bought for him. I bought my own. When my younger brother was turning 16 I had a job making pretty good money and was looking to upgrade. So my parents made me give him my old car and in exchange they cosigned the loan on the new one. Except they had to do that anyway because I was still 17 at the time.

The thing is. When someones seems so eager to tell you hoe they were treated unfairly its because they need conformation that it was unfairz because they got gaslight when they tried to express what they felt to the perpetrators themselves or those around them. Know that grom experience. You live through it but you carry it with and it can be insanely vexing

Yeah same. Parents gave me a shit car that breaks down every month and then asked why i cant save any money. While my 4 olders sister all get brand new cars. Yeah i hate my parents. I also got a job first while they were all still in college and i need the car to go to work. My sisters they dont work but got school and they get new cars. They didnt have to pay until they got jobs. I paid everything on my car. Trash that shit and my parents were mad that i got rid of that death trap. This was all in highschool and i never saw my parents the same. They're ass holes and have never seriously helped me. This is just one of many shitty events and they wonder why i stopped caring for them.
