Modern Forehand Technique | CONSISTENCY & POWER (2/3)

If you're sick of spraying balls wide, missing easy put aways, and losing to pushers who just get the ball back and wait for you to miss, check out this training series. Ramon will show you the secrets to hitting a POWERFUL and CONSISTENT forehand... and you'll have fun in the process developing that killer forehand! Enjoy :)

In this video, you'll learn about extension which is what creates MASSIVE power on your forehand.

You'll also see slow motion footage of Roger Federer in his "pet the dog" position which is what allows him to create giant leverage and massive power for his forehand.

Finally, you'll be entertained while you learn with fun graphics and jokes.

Enjoy!

In my online quest for the best tennis instruction videos I just recently discovered your videos. I like your approach : it's technical but you blend in humour, what makes it more fun to watch. I also like the enormous contrast between the funny Osa that tells you how to do it and the dead serious Osa that shows you how to do it : your twin brother ? ;-)
Anyway, I subscribed to your channel, so keep up the good work ! ;-)

Hi, Ramon. After trying your pet the dog into the 45° contact point I immediately subscribed! fantastic work and advice! on a side note you should keep the facial hair. it looks awesome

When the ball bounces, you drop the racquet to get into the pat the dog position? If I close the racquet face like that, sometimes when I hit the ball the racquet face becomes open more than vertical and the ball goes high sometimes. Do I have to think about the racquet face at contact?

Hi. Very interesting video. I want to ask you something.
I am in redy position. My left hand is paralel to the net and I "pet the dog" with the right hand.
You say that we have to use hips. I wonder when I start to swing, is it wrong to rotate my left arm and shoulder first and then my hips or they rotate at the same time or only the hips rotate and left arm comes naturally around to the left side ?
Other videos in the net give an advice to rotate first the left arm and hips and then the right arm. It seems that Federer do the same. Untill he "pet the dog", and his right hand is still back, his left hand and shoulder starts to move and that creates the lag of the racquet. Am I right?

This is ONLY part of the equation, the biomechanical movements, unfortunately this alone won't help you hit the ball well, you have to link technique with a specific tactical outcome, there is no mention in this video, and in MOST online "coaching" technical stroke videos of where the ball is going and what "shape" it is taking to get there (height, direction, distance, depth, spin rate, power - mph)

Ramon, great video and picture quality. I'm starting over from scratch with my forehand. Over the last two years it went from my best shot to my least consistent shot.
What kind of camera are you using? I need to start recording myself to critique my issues. Thanks man.
