You find them at restaurants, stores, and while walking through the mall. Companies are short staffed. Then when you get home we see headlines on TV and the internet with articles claiming that we have this huge employee shortage. Where are all the workers! Our country is in desperate need workers! It can almost give you the sense that our economy is in danger from a lack of workers.

I'm sick of being labeled as lazy and not wanting to work. I have sent so many applications and have been ghosted each time. I've never experienced something so exhausting as this. Apparently I'm not good enough for Walmart and McDonalds.

They need to start giving hiring managers and HR staff psychological evaluation tests. Too many narcissistic and sociopathic managers lack empathy and compassion to start doing the job training. They would rather keep firing and ghosting employees and applicants.

problem is employers are still being too picky, they want all the experience but yet wont train and not to mention age discrimination and believe me its out there more than ever

Here's an idea.
Medium to large companies that post the same job, vet numerous candidates and not hire anybody should be fined for wasting everyone's time.
If you can't find a perfect candidate, it means you're too picky or too cheap to train them. Financial penalties should motivate these companies to actually hire somebody.

I genuinely believe they aren’t hiring…I think they’re getting ready to make their employees they already have easily disposable and replaceable.

Had a hiring manager pull me aside after the interview and confess they did not expect me to interview so well. It was a panel interview given for a state position. Was super excited only to be told the agency had already selected two candidates that were internal but had to post the position publicly. She essentially thanked me for coming in and apologized for wasting my time. This the third time I far exceeded the job requirements, interviewed well but was just there as a seat filler. I have no faith in reports that proclaim there are no one in the US that wants to work.

Ive gotten a lot of rejections for entry level positions, requiring no experience, with paid training for the job. and theyve had their listings up for months, its mind boggling, and f#cking angering as hell.

How about employers hire people because people need to work & get paid & have homes & families like a normal ass society

When I was young, you went in to the place of employment, you grabbed an application or you dropped off your resume. You introduced yourself and shook the managers hand. This made a great first impression and the manager got to see you were a human eagerly finding employment. Now youre just a number on Indeed. The tech part is ruining everything.

I have a full blown biology degree and an entry level plumbing experience . I have warehouse experience and even customer service experience from handling unemployment benefits. I have applied to every job in my field and even resorted to applying for fast food which I haven't done since I was 19 . I'm 24 and this is absolutely ridiculous. No one is being hired because companies don't invest in their employees anymore . It's ridiculous that every job wants experienced personnel but no one wants to train anymore . If no one wants to train how will there ever be a next generation of workers. This entire process is a contradiction.

Worst things is when they don’t even email back Atleast to say you weren’t selected .

I’m getting really angry having to go through this. I did *everything* society told me to do, by going to College, completing my courses, and I STILL can’t get a job in my degree field of Political Science. Everywhere I look, they demand ridiculous years of experience for entry level positions, for me to already have some kind of clearance, to be proficient in various kinds of software, or other qualifications that I simply don’t have. I want to start my life, damnit! Instead, My College Degree apparently doesn’t qualify me…

This is the same thing that's happening to me. It seems like every business in my area is hiring but they just won't hire me. Unfortunately the 80 year olds on social media don't understand that and it's getting me frustrated because they're calling me lazy over and over again. I'm not lazy I don't think I've ever been lazy.

I've been living in Los Angeles for 8 years. Got laid off during the Pandemic. Received unemployment for a year. I have applied for every possible type of work imaginable, even tried applying back to my former employers. No offers, got rejected twice by Target and Aldi....Target and Aldi! I have a degree in business! This is just weird as hell!!! Something's up and our Government is not telling us!

I went to a job fair one time, and most of the employers there told us candidates to apply online for jobs. What’s the point in having a job fair at all ?

I’m over 40 and my niece is early 20s struggling to find a job. I feel like I just went through all she’s going through. My advice, keeping moving forward, somebody will give you a break, just don’t stop. Keep it going.

I stopped putting that I am a military veteran on my applications...its amazing all the responses now. There needs to be federal law going after these hiring managers.

The most frustrating thing for me has been that entry level no longer exists, so there's absolutely no way to get your foot in the door to work your way up. I went to school and got the exact right degree necessary for my field, and I have the perfect knowledge background for all of these entry level jobs that I'm applying for, but they ALL require at least a year of experience. That's the ONLY thing I don't have, and I know for a fact that's why I haven't been getting any offers. How are we young people supposed to get experience if no one is willing to give us a chance? These hiring managers are so lazy and entitled that they can't be bothered to give any on-the-job training. They expect to be able to hire you and have you start pumping out perfect work with no investment on their part. It should be illegal for a company to advertise a job as entry level if it requires even a single day of experience. If it requires experience then it is NOT entry level.
