Jobs Are No longer Hiring

Hiring has near completely dried up in the US labor market, contrary to all mainstream talk of a booming economy. JOLTS hires was the lowest since March and April 2020, and apart from those the worst in six and a half years. That substantial weakness was further corroborated by some of the biggest companies in the world reporting sharply lower results on increasing consumer difficulties. Yet, everyone will be focused entirely on the Fed and its absurd "inflation" fixation.

Seen a librarian position wanting a masters degree for close minimum wage last night I was floored.

The main problem with Western countries right now is that we are still picking the bones of an economy where one man was able to comfortably support an entire family by himself. Nobody seems to have given much thought on how to improve/replace that system. The ruling class seem hellbent on leaving no meat left on that corpse for younger generations.

Companies are sitting at the table feasting on beef and asking each other “why isn’t there any milk?”

I've been saying for a while now, there's a big difference between job openings and GOOD job openings.

I applied to the jobs a walk away from my house. They all have "hiring now, apply online" so I do that, and get denied. (I know they need more people because I can see in their store that they need it)
I then got lectured by my dad on how I'm lazy and should "just get a job".

I fuking hate these times....

I was unemployed for two years almost, beginning in 2021 after I graduated college. I couldn’t even get the coffeeshop I used to be a supervisor at for 3 years to respond to my application. It was the most demoralizing experience and without the help of my church, I’d have ended up on the streets. I’m not a huge fan of my current job but I would never trade it to return to this awful job market. I seriously have to remind myself of how blessed I am on the extra hard days.

Someone is lying. The news said they added 175, 000 jobs. You’re saying nobody hiring. I believe you.

This job market is NO JOKE. I'm a Talent Acquisition Manager with 15 years of experience. I was laid off in August 2023 and haven't been able to find work to date (even while being open relocation). I couldn't tell you how many apps I've put in but my job search is literally an "all day everyday" kind of thing. Interviews are scarce... I'll blow an interview out of the water and have them them tell me to be on the lookout for the next interview in a few days ONLY to be ghosted. It has made me question my ENTIRE existence. What am I doing wrong? Who are they ghosting me for? Why is it so hard to get an interview to begin with??? This can't be what life is about is about. I was a top performer in my last role and that STILL wasn't enough to survive a wave of layoffs. I don't even care to live at this point. Everything I've done up to this point has been all for nothing.

The good jobs are pretty much gone, what's mostly left are high turnover jobs with ridiculous demands for incredibly little pay.

This is absolute corporate greed. Keep slimming staff until breaking point. Keep raising prices until breaking point. Then go to news outlets complaining the customers are missing. No shit the AVG person doesn't want to buy squat, they dug their own graves. You're wondering where all that money is at? Look at the pay package of the CSuites

I have two family members who work in HR/Hiring of new personnel, meaning they say yes hire or no do not hire. I was shocked to hear them both admit that there are phantom positions. That is to say there is no actual job but they go through the entire hiring process then never hire anyone...WTH???

Unemployment is an odd concept in an economy where for so many folks it’s necessary to work multiple jobs just to get by. Loose one and you’re counted as employed but suddenly don’t have enough money to live.

Corporations don't want to pay a living wage, yet they raise the cost of everything across the board. How could anything go wrong with THAT system of moronic greed?

what makes me the most angry is that when my parents were my age they owned a house, car and had kids now at the same age I need 3 people working full time to just to buy a broken and years old used car that will break down in a month or so and it would take at least 4 people to afford an apartment with only two rooms that looks like a shed -_-

One HUGE problem is that these corporations are UNWILLING TO TAKE A LOSS, no matter what. If they all just hired people and had slightly lower profits for a quarter they would see that their profits would rise, since people would have expendable income!!!

i applied to over 300 jobs in 8 months and got 1 offer for a 6-month contract. I have 12 years of experiences and this is the worst I've seen it.
