She fell asleep on my shoulder during our first train ride together whilst we shared her iPod listening to this song. I broke my hand years later, for the first time in my life, punching my mirror after I found out she cheated and was planning on proposing while crying to this song. I still wish you the very best and I love you, where ever you are...

hot damn! This song rips me to shreds every time I hear it. I used to sing this to my baby boy when he was stuck in the NICU for 61 days before he could come home to us. Thank you Mumford and Sons for all your beautiful music. Just so no one gets too sad from my comment.. My boy David is a super healthy 4 year old now... and I still sing this to him sometimes when he can't fall asleep.

Often surprised that this didn't make it to the original album and not just the delux version!

I keep coming back to this beautiful song. I dated someone for nearly 3 years and every so often we connect about lingering questions. I still deeply love him yet know we are better for other people. I am Christian and long for a Christian husband. He longed for a sense of peace and eventually found it in someone else. This song helps me to grieve.

But where are you now?
Where are you now?
Do you ever think of me
In the quiet, in the crowd?

The three people who disliked this have no souls. My favorite band, an amazing song of Mumford & Sons, who always strum the strings of my heart.

44 years, and I still wonder. Guess it will never stop. I’ll let you all know when I start listening weekly to George Jones singing “He stopped loving her today”

I lost my grandmother to brain cancer not long ago. I think about her almost every day of my life, but for some reason, this song reminds me that she may very well be thinking of me too. I can only hope that more people out there can find comfort in this song in the same way that I can. It's as profound as it is sad.

First heard them play this song in Florence Italy and I remember it hitting me like a ton of bricks. God made that voice for one reason and one reason only. Thank the lord he chose to use it just for that purpose.

When you think you're just going to listen to a song, then your brain goes "Here's some memories..."

Lyrics:
"It came to the end it seems you had heard.
As we walked the city streets,
You never said a word.

When we finally sat down
Your eyes were full of spite.
I was desperate, I was weak
I could not put up a fight.

But where are you now?
Where are you now?
Do you ever think of me
In the quiet, in the crowd?

You were strangely less in pain
Than you were cold.
Triumphant in your mind
Of the logic that you hold.

You said no one would ever know
The love that we had shared.
As I took my leave to go
It was clear you didn’t care.

And where are you now?
Where are you now?
Do you ever think of me
In the quiet, in the crowd?

But where are you now?
Where are you now?
Do you ever think of me
In the quiet, in the crowd?

And I hear of your coming
And your going in the town.
I hear stories of your smile,
I hear stories of your frown.

And the darkness can descend,
We can relish all the pain.
But I know that’s what you love,
'Cause you know I love the same.

But where are you now?
Where are you now?
Do you ever think of me
In the quiet, in the crowd?

But where are you now?
Where are you now?
Do you ever think of me
In the quiet, in the crowd?

But where are you now?
Where are you now?
Do you ever think of me
In the quiet, in the crowd?"
