Processing Data in Chunks in R using iotools (Option for Big Data Analysis)

An alternative approach would be to store data in a database and do as much of the calculations as possible directly in the database. R packages which support that include dbplyr (dplyr's database backend, translates dplyr code into SQL), dbplot (dedicated plotting functions, e. g. for histograms so that the bins are calculated in the database and R accesses only aggregated results), or rquery and rqdatatable.
