Awesome video! I’m 36 and home theater has been a HUGE passion of mine for half of my life. Finally bought my first house after renting for a long time and it has a fully finished basement. First problem I had was dealing with the sound absorption from the drop ceiling tiles now that is taken care of on to covering the windows and this turned out to be your latest video! Funny how things happen. Keep up the awesome work!

Very nice, less messy than what I did.
I used black latex paint and painted my two big windows and then covered it with a blackout curtain that was already there trying to block the light.
The latex paint is very easy to remove from the glass with a razor blade if you have to.

YM... Not for windows, but so glad that blackout curtains came to mind when setting up shop here. I'm using them as a divider, significantly reducing ambient light from the adjacent area, and noticeably helps with acoustics.

I've been wanting to do this in my open living room layout for awhile now. We live in Nevada so I'm thinking the tint till also help keep heat out of the house as well. We have 2 side windows in the home theater area, and then a sliding glass door behind where the screen comes down that drives me nuts.

Omg the speaker mount on the side surround. I’ve struggling with the left side of my room. Due to it being 4 higher and open to our tiled dining room. Does that speaker have any ports on the back. And if so how does it sound against your sliding door

I think light bleeding is the thing I hate most about my livingroom/makeshift home theater. I need to find a way to do that to my sliding glass door but be able to remove it very easily when my wife gets home

The static will pull a lot of dust. You should spray on the side going towards the window as you pull the protective film. Will prevent dust build up and make install a lot easier

Put some similar stuff on last year in my basement, so far so good, I do notice when the sun hits it first thing in the morning it's gets pretty hot tho, not much of an issue cause it's only for an hour or so, but might be if it was getting blasted all day haha

Love all your DIY stuff. You don't always need really expensive option. Still I am going to go with automatic blinds at some point when I get my room I want.

The only problem I’ve had with velimax is it heats up like crazy if hit by direct sunlight and causes the room temperature to go up quite a bit.

I love my blackout curtains. Great for viewing and especially great for keeping the heat out.
No way I could tint the windows though seeing as though it's my family room. I'll take what I can get though lol

That looks amazing! I’m also really interested in that bracket your friend made as I’m in a similar predicament with my Klipsch 502s I just got 😬 haha!

We can use a plastic ruler to squeeze the water instead of metal to avoid hurting the material.
If you need to remove fast, maybe using black pp plate sheets and hook/loop fasteners will help which I am using now.

What wasn't mentioned is thermal expansion of the glass. Unless a small area around the perimeter is exposed (film not up to edge) the window will crack when it gets exposed to direct sunlight when hot. The film will prevent the glass from expanding and will cause it to crack. The professionals us a credit card to trim around the perimeter the correct distance. You'll find out.
