Remarkable you have the ability to stay so respectful. We really feel sorry for you. And can’t believe the unethical behavior of marine insurance companies. We are checking our power catamaran insurance policy for salvage clause as we speak!

The law should require the salvage company to buy the boat at the salvage company’s assessed value at the owners option. That would put market pressure back into balancing power dynamics.

Insurance is just such a scam whether it be boat, car, home, or health. You pay thousands and thousands of dollars for years with no claims at all and then the moment you actually need to use the insurance, the insurance companies do everything in their power to avoid paying. I hate it that you had to deal with this mess and give up your boat. Hopefully there will be a Hillbilly 2 in the future if this experience hasn't totally soured you on boating. As always, you are simply a class act and a great person. So sorry you had to deal with this! I sincerely hope this gives you closure and the ability to move to the next chapter! I have seen over the years how happy you are on the water and The BVI, so I remain hopeful for your return in whatever capacity is best for you!

We are just so so so sorry for you. I worked years ago for a lawyer who did maritime law. I learned then how different the laws are for boats and boaters. You have offered invaluable information to your viewers. God bless you! 😔

Thank you for the update. I feel so bad for you. I watched this with my wife who is an attorney and she was furious. She thinks you should sue the insurance company for denying your claim. I am sure you have thought about this and will update us in future videos. Thank you for your class, honesty and education to many boat owners out there that have no idea what could happen to them. Hey buddy, Thank you for all your information, because of you I rented the 50ft Lepord and took my whole family on a vaction around the US Virgian island during Covid, it was the time of our life, we are a family of 5 of divers and snorklers and it was a blast. All the kids are gone now and became an empty nester a couple weeks back, Now they all want to go for another trip, it ment so much to them they always bring it up, Carry on and be proud of what you have done. Love you Man!

As a fellow deep-water sailor, my heart breaks with every video. I have said to my husband, more than once, "We should probably sell our Big Girl, and just charter." (We still own our boat, 44' monohull.)

The train trip looks amazing, and therapeutic.

Its was very easy to see the on-going enjoyment you shared with your friends, family, business associates as well as anyone you met along the boating roads. I hope in time you decide to rejoin us on the water. Until then enjoy yourself but know that your kind presence will be missed.

This breaks my heart, you’ve done such a great job with your channel we all kind of felt like the Hillbilly was ours. As an insurance agent it makes me sick that they determined there was no coverage. Hopefully your lawyer will get them to pay. I’m looking forward to more adventures from your channel
