The Ancient Story of Giant Sequoia Trees | The World's Largest Trees - Natural Wonders 4

Giant sequoia trees are the largest, heaviest trees in nature. These gigantic trees are true wonders of nature, able to live for more than 3,000 years and growing from 4,600 to 7,050 feet above sea level. Their bark is so thick and durable that it provides protection against both fire and threats such as fungi and wood-boring insects. These trees, native to North America, are divided into two groups: scale-leaved and coniferous, and their cones mature in 1 year. Even the world's largest tree, General Sherman, is a giant sequoia. Nature can be wonderful if we treated fair.Sequoia trees I believe are the wisest species on this planet, they live for thousands of years in harmony-with nature, and have no brains and yet they exis, consciousness as the human species sees it doesn’t exist in the Sequoia species .although they have the power to exist for thousands of years, I don’t think the human species has that power of consciousness, they have the same DNA and they do everything that humans do, we should study more of their consciousness surely they have something to offer . They live in the same planet.

Did you know there are more in Britain now than in California. There are half a million in Britain, but the oldest is just 200 years old and the tallest over here 55 metres.

We live in Little Rock and we have cedar trees that are over 100' tall and 12' across! Some are hollow near the ground! There is one you can get inside and look out through a huge knot hole that's fallen out!

Let's be perfectly clear, the U.S. forest service didn't "take a long while to realize" the fires were necessary to health of the forest. The idiotic practice of extinguishing all fires in the forest, was born of complete disrespect of the vast knowledge of the people's who occupied these lands, for 1000's of years before European's declared this place as "ours". Get with it U.S. There's lots to learn from cultures other than my horrifically stubborn dominating gov't. here on Turtle Island. Running for our lives from elsewhere, one might think we'd be more open to the wisdom of the tribal elders here before us, but instead we're like invasive species having done huge damage in just a few centuries. High time to become the stewards humans are meant to be.

Coastal redwoods are actually the largest tree species not giant seqouia. The giant seqouias just have larger still existing trees. But coastal redwoods are much taller, 50 to 100 feet taller on average. And the oldest are even older and thicker than giant seqouias. A recently, last decade or so, discovered coast redwood is wider at its trunk than the widest giant seqouia.
