The thing that got me was that the number of countries that CANT make a psn account is about 1.7 times more than the number of countries that can, and the population of those countries that cant make a psn account is roughly 4.8 billion people, or 60% of the entire worlds population. Obviously the game's playerbase isn't evenly distributed into to each country, but to say that this is a significant impact would be an understatement.

"They trained the playerbase to band together to fight bots, so they are now banding together to fight bots..."

The "30 sec to make an account" is not an issue for me, but if my helldiver brethren are locked out of the game because of where they live, then I'll be boycotting it for sure. We dive together, we die together.

It’s strange that in Helldivers 1 on steam it did not require a PSN account to play and it hasn’t changed to this day. Sony enforcing this on Helldivers 2 for the reasons it stated is utter nonsense.

Naw SONY changed their support tips that the Helldivers CEO linked.
It said that “Playing a PlayStation Game on PC will have the option to log into PSN but is not required”
They have now changed it TODAY, to say “some games can not log into PSN to play”

according to SONY PS account FAQ .. signing in to PSN is OPTIONAL when playing a PlayStatiion game on PC... this is still on the PSN FAQ page. SONY IS LYING.

You can't call it a "requirement", when it was possible to skip the linking process.

What does this company think the word requirement means?

It was optional. It was skipable.

Sony has an earnings call coming up. This is why they want us to join.

Lasly, they changed their PSN options on may 3rd. It was always optional and that was shown on the PlayStation website.

The weird thing to me was them claiming they can offer security. Security to what? The PSN account? So I have to make a PSN account to let you help me prevent my PSN account from getting hacked? That's so weird. It's like monkeys at the helm.

Isn't it probably illegal on steam in some way to sell a game into a country, where it can't be used? I can't imagine that not being a thing.

The funny thing is that Sony could have gotten his sweet, sweet new PN accounts without any negative backlash by offering something in exchange for linking your steam account to your PSN account, by offering super credits or a new exclusive armor and cape set, 80% would have jumped into the hype wagon immediately and the rest eventually, but they had to hold the game hostage and force things upon people.

Edit: I didn't mean that all, 100% of PC players would make the PSN account but Sony could have gotten a good chunk of all the total PC players to make the account if instead of issuing threats they issued bribes to the player base with free cosmetics or game currency.

My issue with this is that it was the plan from the beginning to require the linked accounts. And yet there was absolutely no plan for people in countries that didn’t have access to that service. And then it was disabled for months and yet they still never had any communication regarding this. That tells me either
A. Sony and arrowhead have terrible communication between each other and they haven’t gotten a response on this for months or at any point pre launch
B.They never asked or considered countries which didn’t have access to the play station service in which case that reeks of extreme incompetence on their part

If they never planned for it to be available for people in those countries (which I doubt) then they shouldn’t have sold it in those territories

but they recently changed it to "some games REQUIRE psn"
"what's the big deal? making a psn takes 120 seconds" oh is that right? right back at you then "what's the big deal? not making a psn takes zero seconds"
