Funny how the "required" connection isn't actually required at all.

They realized they were facing potential legal action and those Steam refunds started pouring in. That's what changed their tune 100%. Soon as Steam said "fk it, block sales in any non PSN country and start issuing refunds" it was all over. Someone at Sony saw a bunch of Steam Refunds come into their inbox and said "WTF is going on" they passed it up to a finance manager and they said "Oh shit, what happen?" and then their boss ran it to an executive who said "But MY and they changed their bind about PSN requirements.

100% this comes down to some random executive losing a bonus.
