The fact that man can still go into work with a smile on his face and still have a positive outlook on life is unbelievable

I had a coworker whose exhusband died, the father of her children. They refused to give her time off to confort her kids so all the employees threatened to quit, she got the time off quickly

He should name and shame the company that fired him because his daughter died!

In my last job (I'm retired), after announcing I needed time off to fight cancer they told me not to worry about a thing, just go and get yourself better, they offered lots of support even down to driving me 50miles a day to the hospital for radiation treatment which went on for weeks. That was about 15yrs ago, I am still here because of them helping me in this way. This is a kindness I will never forget

I own multiple companies. If I EVER found out one of my managers fired someone for something like that, there would be hell to pay. I'm not exactly known as a nice person, I'm the one who has to make the tough and unpopular calls, but there's a limit. We're still humans. Firing someone over that requires a lack of empathy beyond what I can even comprehend. That manager would be fired and blacklisted from working again. There is no excuse for that.

Oh my God how cruel. There is never an excuse for such actions. They will reap what they’ve sown, and they lost a fabulous employee.

How a company could fire an employee for that reason is beyond illegal and shameful!
I wish he would name and shame them and take them for everything they’re worth

My wife and I lost a daughter at 20 months of age due to rare condition. The company I work for was over the top gracious during that rough time the way any company should be. Wish I knew the company that fired this guy. They’d definitely never get my business.

I lost my son right after giving birth due to a heart condition the fetal cardiologist overlooked. Unfortunately, I didn’t have children before and had a total hysterectomy several months after he died.

It’s been 13 years and still hurts. I have so much sympathy for this man and his fiancé. Jumping from the greatest joy to unimaginable grief.

It may mean well, but please, don’t ever say “*Child’s name* is better off in heaven”; “God needed another angel”; “You’ll eventually get over it”; “You can adopt or become a foster parent”, or anything like those examples. It isn’t helpful.

My husband’s mother died suddenly and two months later his grandma died. His boss literally told him he regretted hiring him even though he had great performance reviews. He told him to get over those deaths. He didn’t need those bereavement days and fired him. Companies demand for us to be loyal to them but they have no loyalty to us. It is disgusting that this is apparently a common issue.

Unbelievable, a young couple lose their newborn baby and whoever he worked for fired him for not coming in the day his baby passed away because it coincided with Black Friday, that is despicable

That poor man... he's smiling outwardly, but you can tell that it's still tearing his heart out.

I can't believe he was able to tell the story about his daughter's passing without getting emotional as I'm sure everyone who watched this shed a tear.

Bless this man. Staying so positive thru it all. I couldn't imagine losing a child. Much respect

I’m not a owner of a business, but if I was and I found out that an employee has suffered a personal tragedy, I would never fire them. I would show my condolences to them.

I wish he'd name the company. I certainly don't want to support a company that would fire someone for missing work because their child just died, or the death of any family member. That's cruel.

Not only did the company have no sympathy for him taking off work for the birth of his daughter, they also had the audacity to fire him when she ultimately passed away

I worked for a company a few years ago that I had some qualms with. During a stressful time, two of my best friends both attempted suicide at the same time. I stayed with them at the hospital for over 14 hours with no sleep and drove the 2 hour drive home unable to speak. They are still with us, thank goodness. The company wouldn't approve my emergency leave to quote them: "Because there was no death, we cannot approve your leave. Even if they were to perish, they weren't immediate family so it still couldn't be approved." I handed my resignation the next morning.

People don't realise how difficult it is to open up to a complete stranger about something so terrible. My heart really does go out to the young man and his family what they suffered. Hats off to his boss for having a big heart and helping them out in some token way.
