Usually a 1 year old should be falling around 1-step instructions. A 2 year old should follow around 2 step instructions, while a 3 year old might follow around 3 step and a little longer than that. In case your child is not following instructions, then again it is important to look at his developmental milestones, also meet up with his Speech Language Pathologist about the same. In case you want him to follow instructions, it is important that you start working on it. So the one way of doing this is that you give him the instructions once. For example come and if your child doesn’t come and the second time you help him, do the instructions, as in you go near him and say the word “come” and take him to the place you want him to. So basically you assist him in carrying out that instruction.
