My child does not eat well. This is the common question encountered in our practice as a pediatrician. It is asked by almost every young mother so what we need to understand is the physiology of a development of a child. It is implant to know that the first year if life every child gains about 6 to 7 kgs. So a child who is weighing around 2 to 2 and a half kgs weighs around 9 kgs by their first birthday. That is when the child eats really well. After the first birthday during their toddler age group the child gains just 2 kgs per year. So a child between 2 to 8 years just need to grow 2 kgs per year.
