5:07 this is a map from somewhere around 1900's. India and Pakistan doesn't have borders because of British Raj. you can also see Egypt, Sudan Yemen are bordered as same color as Britain was ruling there too. it's written in Arabic in the textbook itself. but they're missing Turkey for some reason

The map does show the united Germany. So apparently the last time it was updated was between 1990 and 1991.

I know it lessens the joke, but a lot of the translation/missing country issues likely comes down to how digital maps work in design programs. Typically, each country is its own object in the map, so when someone goes to recolor or move the map if they miss a few countries in their selection they might not notice - especially if they're overworked/underpaid/rushed.

This one time as a kid I saw a terrible map which had the label “Philippines” over all of Indonesia and so for the longest time I thought all those islands were just the Philippines lol
