Philips TV – Ambilight vs. AmbiLux: How immersive do you want it?

Ambilight TVs and AmbiLux TVs are both based on the same idea. The idea is "How can we enhance the television experience with light?” With Ambilight, we are doing this with providing a soft halo with colors, with motion, with dynamics around the television and with AmbiLux, we are taking that exact same idea but then to the maximum.

What is the difference between an Ambilight TV and an AmbiLux TV?
• Ambilight: there are LEDs at the edge of your TV.
• AmbiLux: there are 9 pico-projectors at the back of your TV but more to the center.

Result is with Ambilight you have a halo around your TV which can change color according to whatever is on the screen. With AmbiLux, you have the projectors, so that means you can project in a much wider space (over 3,5m around the TV) but also higher resolution, so you can really put the motion of whatever is on the screen also in your halo.

It's all there to make a better experience, it is meant to immerse you into the screen, and it’s meant to support your television viewing. And this is unique to Philips Television.

See what adding light to an experience can do:

will the Ambilux technology be coming to the OLED tv's anytime soon? I am thinking about buying the 55" Philips 55POS9002 or the 65" Sony A1E. However I am willing to wait to see if Philips are bringing the Ambilux technology to any of their OLED models in the future

Can you wall mount a Ambilux and still get spread projection, also can ambilux behave like ambilight dropping the screen image and instead just using vibrant colours.

Ambilux is not focused. There is a mat Image on the wall. If they use something that can deliver more focused image just like projectors and make a recipe for the gap between the tv and the wall behind it with some examples and you just measure that and take the picture you want

wish someone produces a TV that has the television receiver mounted in a removable box. so you can choose to use it as TV or computer monitor alone. I do not watch television broadcasts. but want to use the big TV screen to Web TV. placing the television receiver that is available in a removable box in the garage or storage room. So you avoid paying costly television license fee. and can then have money left over to buy a bigger, better and more expensive televisions. and just have it as a computer monitor.

Since Philips tvs have been taken over by an Asian company, we haven’t seen anything like this from them anymore 😢

Is Philips going to bring back the higher end tv's to the uk ? If not I'll take my money elsewhere, I've only had Philips TVs for over 20 years I don't want to buy the midrange one's.
