A great picture in most situations, but the TV has a major problem with black bars in films. Micro dimming causes shadows and darkened image areas below and above the bars. Discoloration affects large parts of the image. But if you turn off the local contrast, the images appear gray. I still think this can be solved better with a software update.

Beautiful TV, I used to own the 9006, its nice to see the 9 series bakc, I am still confused why it is running its own OS and not Android despite being such a high end TV, so it will be missing apps like Disney Plus or wiil the Philips store have them?

This is an awesome television delivering a stunning picture in most situations (by far). However the local pixel dimming does not handle black bars in movies (in particular 4K ultra HD movies) during certain dark scenes very well. During dark scenes you see the backlights in the bar (IPS glow) if local contrast is set to maximum. I have to set local dimming to minimum to get rid of this effect or put the Ambilight to Warm White background. I hope Philips can update their local dimming algorithm and take care of this.

So I bought it, it’s the first ambilight tv that I got and honestly I don’t think that I would choose a different one if I would want to upgrade, only ambilights for me I guess 😊
