The details are great, but what really hits home is that this is how many men have died in battle.. just a small thing like missing that button delaying them one second ended up with kat dying.. things like that happen in real life all the time but unfortunately nobody can see the future...

Her dead was just shocking, it just happened like another death, I swear I have seen the same scenario of a Marine or Odst dying in halo 2 or 3 by a sniper just like that, like nothing, her death was ripped from any other emotion than just shock

I think someone else pointed out that Kats shields were off too. Either due to the glassing or some other reason but her shields weren’t up, making it a much easier kill.

Remember, after they put their helmets back on, we never see their shields glow to recharge. And when Kat gets shot, you don't see an energy shield flare as the shield gets broken.
The sunspot in her vision could have also stopped Kat from seeing the enemy sniper and dodging - Spartans normally have superhuman reflexes, but that's only if they're able to sense what's coming.
