Fun fact: the figure in this game's 3rd person touring camera mode wears a flamboyant red cape and pointy shoes, because the character designer used to live in Durham, and saw Laith walking around admonishing the homeless.

game says: the marketplace is the center of every settlement

Laith: places new houses further and further from the marketplace

every inhabitant has to walk to the marketplace to get food and clothing. A shorter way between housing and the marketplace is better. Especially since the people who work at the clay pit or stonecutter have to walk past the marketplace to get to work.

If anybody is curious. The Buildings are based on the region of 14. century franconia in what would be modern day germany. The developer has been discussing many if not all designs with historical advisers who help out with the research and share their knowledge. Most buildings eighter have historic examples and sources or are an educated guess on how they would've looked like.
Not everything is perfect of course, but this game probably is the most authentic looking medieval inspired game out there currently.

I swear getting a haircut has become a challenge. It's so difficult to get the barber to understand what you want now. You can explain exactly what you want, mid to long scissor cut + details, show pictures, and then they pull out the buzzers like their going to sheer you like a sheep. BRUH

You lucky git! I've been looking forward to Manor Lords for so long. Many medieval-ish city builders have the basic aesthetic of the Middle Ages and nothing else, which sucks. Many medieval lords were seriously into town planning, and the growth of new towns and villages in medieval England especially was so rapid that it consumed about half of all the forests in England, leading to increased protections for them.

This is the first city builder with medieval aesthetic to ACTUALLY look like a genuinely medieval settlement, and the developer has discussed their desire to create a city builder that emulates medieval town planning rather than making a city builder that just looks medieval. It has a lot of potential to be the best of these pre-modern city builders. It may or may not live up to that, but it still looks like it will be better than most. I can't believe it's just two weeks away now!

58:20 Laith, you jsut made the fields way too large for the little amount of people that you are assigning there. By the time they plow and saw the field, its about going to be winter xD You either assign maximum people and test it one year and then reduce the size of the field.
Generally in medieval times a family of farmers had 2 adults and about 6 to 8 children. Family stayed together through the generations and increased to about 50 to 100 people to create farming villages. So you can guess what kind of hard work farming is in general.
Ergo meaning always assign maximum amount of families to large fields. after all you still got the option to let families do their own food production in their gardens. there is a reason to that mechanic

Laith just truly enjoying himself, instead of the suffering, is really my favourite videos! Like this one or the orc lich one, just a blast to watch.

I see a reference to THE LEGEND HIMSELF in the thumbnail and I click.

Bro, you are building a medieval village, not a new jersey suburb, what is that layout?

It did genuinely make me smile seeing you getting all excited about walking around in your own fiefdom

I feel like this game is going to be the perfect mixture of everything needed in a city builder and I’ve been waiting for a game like this for so long.

There are a lot of these medieval settlement building games, but this one seems so much better than any of them. It just feels so real. And being able to walk around the village you created? excellent!

Looks like this game genuinely has potential, it looks pretty well fleshed out. Hopefully won’t be priced too high at the cost of a full triple a game, but I wouldn’t mind supporting these guys. Seems interesting!

-This Soundtrack is amazing! playing it through the game recording messes with the editing style so I'm listening to it separately, But its so good!

-Proceeds to play the same music that's played in every other video so we don't get to listen to the soundtrack.

Btw it’s a good thing to setup trade routes for the import of foods and most needed goods

Walking around a town you have built.... Ironically a feature that was in Total War at one point but lost, it was something I really enjoyed, can't wait for this game!

2:48 - looks like they took a leaf out of Mount & Blades' book. Not a bad idea and it looks well executed.
