Clapping can SEVERELY damage your rings

One of our customers accidentally damaged their ring by simply clapping while they were at a Taylor Swift concert. This damage can occur when someone wears rings on both hands. The simple act of clapping them against each other will cause enough of an impact shock that the thinner ring can become totally deformed. Thankfully I was able to re-round this customer’s ring and fully secure every one of her diamonds.

I always thought that my Humanitarian Prof during college was very austentatious for teaching us the hand to palm clap; I guess there was a reason for it after all.

I don't like clapping palm to palm because it makes me feel like a seal.

I have never found clapping palm to palm comfortable if my fingers are also directly touching with each clap. I've always found it far more comfortable to offset my hands, rotating my left hand so that its fingers sit between my thumb and four other fingers. It just feels more natural for me to clap that way, plus I feel like it gives a louder sounding clap in the end.

I just do my old cheerleader clapping that sounds really loud. You have one of your hands turned horizontally and the other straight up, and you make them into cups, which amplifies the sound

My teachers used to tell us to golf clap so we'd be quieter. Useful for rings too apparently.

Clapping the harmful way just looks silly and hurts your hands.

I tend to clap fingers to palm anyway. I feel like it’s both louder and more comfortable

Honestly, there's something i kind of like about deformed rings. Not from this much damage, but slowly they can end up forming to the finger. It's the sign of a well-loved ring.

I clap palm to palm but I also rotate my fingers 90 degrees from the other palm to make sure this doesn't happen. Another safe alternative for us multi ring wearers.

So sad to hear another Taylor Swift related tragedy. I’m just so grateful that the diamond didn’t fall out at the concert and this poor lady’s diamond encrusted ring is ok. My heart goes out to the victim.

I always clap like that. It sounds way louder while looking more casual. I like it for some reason

I thought only children clapped palm to palm. You learn something new everyday.

Also a great example of how rings can damage (remove, crush, deglove) your fingers! They're beautiful but risky
