Safe stims are Necessary for their mental health . Do not stop safe stims, as they need them to calm themselves .

They told my family I was going to be a vegetable and should be institutionalized and now I’m an independent adult.

My son didn't say Momma until he was almost 4... ugh it was/is the best thing ever! I'll never take it for granted

I don’t have an autistic or special needs child, but your channel helps me to understand how to support my friends and colleagues who have autistic or special needs children by understanding the daily struggles and challenges. Thank you for sharing x

Along with the functioning labels: a single label may not be accurate for all areas of functioning. I am labelled 'mild/high functioning' solely because I can communicate with professionals like a non-autistic with only minor issues. This label, however, ignores what should be a 'severe' label for my sensory problems, and a 'moderate' label for fine and gross motor ability. It can also erase the traits that are above-average or significantly improved due to Autism, such as my hyperlexia and synesthesia. Autistics are a diverse group of people but autism itself can be diverse within the idividual too. We are not just a single label like a lot of people assume!

Realistic, yet positive and optimitic - Yes 👏🏻Yes 👏🏻Yes 👏🏻 This goes for all special needs kiddos, you never know what their future would hold. I don't know where I would be today if my mom weren't optimistic and positive towards my own future, despite everything 💛

My daughter was diagnosed last week. It has been a bit of a grieving process but she is still the same little amazing girl that she was before her diagnosis. I love your channel and Liam soooo reminds me of Piper. This was a great video!!!

Hi, I am a new subscriber...not new to autism. My son is now 25, high functioning, verbal, and reminds me of your sons Noah and Lex. I find your videos very informative, wish you were around back then! My son still at home but is looking for work in IT and will live on his own eventually.

Our Joey wasn't given a level to my knowledge at first, but he reminds me so much of your Liam. Now he is in kindergarten and has progressed so far. And he is in a normal classroom setting. You touched so many topics. Thanks for sharing ❤️

Thank you for all the vlogs about special needs. All 3 of my kiddos have disorders. All 3 are different. My oldest is 18 and is are most affected kid. It has been a rollercoaster since she was 2 years. It is a tough fight.

I never found out my oldest was on the spectrum till he was 14. Kinda wish I had found out sooner to get him more services.

Hi hun, new subscriber here lol, I'm a mum of 3 boys, 1st is 25 with a.d.h.d, 2nd is 9 with just an attitude lol, 3rd is 2yrs 2 months and it's looking like he's autistic, he constantly stims, shakes head, non verbal, only started walking a couple of weeks b4 his 2nd birthday, as I'm used to a.d.h.d and I know most things about it ( been there, done that) autism is a totally different ball game, I'm currently trying to binge watch as many vids about it as possible, and that brought me to u and ur family, wow woman how do u manage??? When my 25 yr old was diagnosed at 8, it wasn't well known back then, I got all the crap u have had, and even now, the momories of that time, still hurt and affect me ( my son didn't care) I'm so glad now it's all spoke about, and it's not in hush hush tones, dreding this autism rollacoasta, but I will try and continue to do everything within my power to help my son, I just wanted to say, thank u for being easy to watch and relate to, hugs, Zoe, Manchester UK xxx

I just loooove this video sooo much!

It's been 5 years since the diagnoses, but I wish I had seen such a video at that time!

My 8.5 year old daughter is so different than she was when we got her diagnoses.

And off course, al children develop in 5 years, but I wish I knew back than where we would be today.

I would have had so much more peace than.

Thanks for making these video's, I love your realness 💕

I really liked this video, I'm relatively new to this whole "special needs parenting" thing, my 6 year old son got his diagnosis right before Thanksgiving 2019 (He's diagnosed with Level 1 Autism Spectrum, ADHD (mild to moderate in inattention and moderate to severe in hyperactivity and impulsivity) and an unspecified anxiety disorder) I'm so overwhelmed with what we need to do and this video helped me with a few things I have been struggling with such as how he still uses a pull-up at night and he's done the 💩 smearing thing 🤢! We're trying to figure out what all we need to do to get him help but it's very overwhelming!
