"He liked to work alone, so did I. So we worked together to keep it that way."

What an actor. He can turn 5 lines of disloque into 30 years of character backstory. Increíble.

More than anything else, I find this scene sad. Even when you're a stylish, enigmatic badass like Gaff, age inevitably catches up to you and, before you know it, you're old, weak, sick, nobody really gives a shit about you, and all you have are memories of bygone days.

This scene made me realize that, tragic as his fate was, Roy actually didn't get that bad a deal - sure, he died, but he died at the height of his powers, defeating his enemy physically AND shattering his entire worldview with an act of compassion.

The light that burns too long eventually flickers and fades out, and nobody remembers it was even there.

I like that the origami is both a reference to the novel the franchise is based on, and also represents K for blindly following orders.

Edward James Olmos is a criminally under-rated actor. He is THE reason I've rewatched Battlestar Galactica as much as I have, and why I will continue to do so, probably forever. So say we all.

"He wasn't long for this world."
"How so?"
"Something in his eyes."

I see what you did there...
Although I do like that the film never truly reveals whether Deckard is a replicant or not. It keeps everyone happy.

Seriousness aside, i can't help but imagine Gaff carrying a large supply of paper sheets wherever he goes for his Origami making needs.

"Something in his eyes" one sentence tells an entire story, if you know the original film

I feel like the “something in his eyes” quote is more a reference to Deckards’s more human instincts surfacing. In the original, he starts out as this unquestioning and unfeeling killer, murdering replicants solely because they’re not like him: flesh and blood. But through his encounters of the first film, he slowly lost that killer instinct and inevitably ran away from it all. Plus, I don’t believe Deckard could be a replicant, the film loses that poetic nature in which the robots are more human than the humans themselves.

I just love how Deakins can make even a simple scene with two people talking look so gorgeous. The lighting is just perfect.

I really love how the blade runner movies blend both obviously science-fictional elements and really down to earth elements. For example, in the world there is flying cars, advanced AI, colonization of other planets, etc. But there are also scenes like this where you can see an old-fashioned radiator on the wall and simple furniture. Also there are some people that wear outlandish clothes and others who wear very simple and ordinary clothing. Just a really cool world in general

I lost my shit when I saw this scene for the first time! I was like, 'Wait a second, isn't that Gaff from the original blade runner movie?' Well, anyways too bad he had only like a minute of screen time. Would've love to see more of him.

Saw this the night it came out in IMAX at the Navy Pier Chicago... the theater was packed, what a wild ride this was... I felt like I was the only one in the theater who knew immediately who this guy was, but as soon as he put the origami on the table, you could hear everyone collectively gasp... amazing scene.
