"you imagined it was you? We all wish it was us."
Man.

This was such a punch in the gut for me because K like a lot of people wish to have some significance to their life that means they’re more than average and to realize you’re not the main character or the most important person out there is quite the experience

I always go back to this scene. The actor who plays Freysa holds a great level of intensity while simultaneously holding herself in a way that reminds us she is not human but a replicant. When she bends over to place her hand on K the sound of moved yet awkward compassion for him brings a feeling of true humanity out of her. Or at least a replicant who so wants to be human. Hiam Abbass is a great cast for Freysa.

This scene was just so devastating, it hit me like a freight train! K/Joe didn’t want to be just “another replicant”, he wanted to be something more, so it was devastating to see him learn he wasn’t the child of Rick. But reflecting on the events that happened throughout the movie, Joe did the most human thing to do, and saved Rick to help him reunite with his child. At the conclusion of the movie, Joe ended up becoming a lot more than just “another replicant”. Despite being a replicant, Joe proved he was more human than a lot of humans, and that’s why I love his arc and his character. It’s just so deep and poetic :)

I can feel joes disappointment in this scene. It’s visceral

After revisiting Blade Runner, it still hits like a train emotionally. In many ways, K's narrative is analgous to an existential crisis. The very thing that provides you with meaning and sense of purpose is shattered under the weight of gruelling facts. The whole irony of this entire movie is that despite the fact that he is a robot, all of his experiences will undenibaly resonate with a human audience.

I was so heartbroken when we found out at the same time as K. Saddest I’ve ever felt watching a movie in a long time. He finally felt like his life had a purpose and meaning only to find out he’s just another replicant 😢

Such a beautiful film with world-class writers. I wish to see a day when such type of movies replace the superhero dogshit we are fed on the regular today

Showed my gf my favorite movie(s) of all time and just like I expected, this broke her heart. Both of us were crying

I think this is a powerful moment. Because even broken, instead to feel angry, betrayed and used, Joe put that all everything apart and replaces it with understanding and he decides to help the girl and reunite her with her father. Something that humans today day don't have anymore.

He imagined it was him because one of her real memories was implanted in his mind.

I watched both the original Blade Runner and then 2049 in the same day and I have to say that I preferred this one. K's story felt a lot more personal and this moment pretty much solidified this movie as my favorite.

Joe’s willingness to embrace a purpose that wasn’t what he hoped it would be

This is such a great plot twist... its like an anti plot twist.

I’m really sad that Joi did in fact die knowing the risks that she’d be gone forever . I wish there was a way to bring her back 😔 I l loved her character . Reminded me of Cortana from Halo ❤️

Honey, we ALL imagined it was him. I’ve never been so pissed at a plot twist in my entire life. Almost rated the movie 1/10 😭

Did you believe it was you?
Pfff, no.

I'm still confused by this. I thought he had figured it out when he met with Dr. Ana Stelline the memory designer. Ana tells K that his horse toy memory isn't his. That's why K has his out burst of rage. So with that you should be able to connect the dots that he wasn't born. Right?
