The look of absolute panic in your eyes and the realisation you're not going to be home for tea is brilliant.

Before you touch anything in the home you should always locate what you're working on. Electrical - find the panel. Plumbing - find the main. Any structural work - locate load bearing walls.

Always locate the stoptap before commencing any plumbing work.

This is a blessing. You don't want to finish up and then turn on the mains and have to rip everything back out.

It is true you should always know where the stop tap is... and whether it works. Ive been found guilty of jumping to conclusions now and again with water and electric... this was a bad one though 😂😂😂

Water lines shouldn't be that shallow in the ground. It should be coming up vertically, not horizontal in the slab.

how is the water supply coming under the concrete into a bathroom? Never seen anything like this!

I never use the fixing kit for a crapper, too risky and crap. The toilet still moves if the floor (or toilet base) isn’t perfectly flat. I pack the bottom of the toilet with plastic packers (the type that goes around windows) and then silicone around. Never have a problem.

I learnt a lot from this video.
Always locate and test the operation of the stopcock before the start of a job.

I had worse, flow/return pipe crossed underneath the pan. I cut through both in an attempt to replace rotten boards.

When I replaced the freestanding toilet pan in my bathroom with a back to wall pan and the two screw holes where in a different place I suspected the the main and tank supplied hot an cold water ran directly underneath so stuck the pan in place with a thick bed of silicone and no screws.
Bloody bodger I hear you say buts it’s still solid 15 years later and yes it will be a pain to remove cutting out the silicone but doable.
When having the floor boards up in the bedroom next to the bathroom sure enough the screw holes in the new pan were directly in line with one of the 3 water pipes that were directly under the floor boards. The screws would have defiantly hit one of them. Good ol’e silicone 😂.

One thing that the full-length video shows that this clip doesn't is James saying how easy it is to fit the floor fixings and couldn't understand why other plumbers don't like using them. It was literally seconds before this happened.
