all the girls I know are appalled with women proposing or asking people out... and I ask "what's wrong with the girl asking out/proposing?", my friends looked at me like I was crazy, they all said the guy has to have the guts to ask/propose or leave it (and they don't want any pressure on themselves). I thought, "yeah, I guess that's a good point but I'm pan, so if we're both girls I'd propose and I would still propose to a guy"

Does it really matter what gender proposes? You're going to get married anyway (if someone proposes, that is), so does it matter who's going to buy the ring? Actions aren't gender-specific. If you want to keep it the way it has been for years, go ahead, that is totally okay. But it is also okay if you are a woman wanting to propose to a man. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

My mom proposed to my dad. 26 years later and they're happy, if it feels like the right time and your not rushing or jumping to conclusions then do it girl!

As a woman I'd actually be glad if I was the one to propose (assuming he says yes, of course). I feel like, if my boyfriend were to propose to me and I wasn't ready for it I'd be all on the spot, and if I say 'no' or 'I don't know' then I'm the bad guy, even if I might want to say yes maybe later I need some time to think... you know what I'm saying? Plus, I'm a very private person, I wouldn't want a big public show, so even if I knew I'd say yes, I'd be worried about some big scene in the middle of some restaurant somewhere every time we go out, after which I'd never feel comfortable going back to that restaurant.

Just throwing my two cents in:
I proposed to my boyfriend and I had planned to from the beginning, but our situation was kinda strange. He and I both were planning our wedding before any official proposing actually occurred. We both told my parents when we wanted to get married, and from then on my mother made herself my coordinator. So I just went ahead and officially proposed to him, with a tungsten wedding band. And then about a month later, he proposed to me with a lab-created diamond ring (aka I don't approve of the diamond industry, but I knew that society wanted some conventionality so he went with that kind.)
So, I Wanted to propose and I Do Not regret it. It was So much fun to plan the proposal and surprise him with it!

I think it should be more of a conversation that ends in a mutual agreement to get married rather than just randomly popping a question.

hello people, i am a guy 23, i along with my friends not all but most of them we talk and bit scared when it comes to proposing, there are people out there who are shy or just scared u know, we would love if girls start proposing us, we dont need expensive ring, we need true love and companion throughout our lives, so yeah girls should propose too!!!
