Stop Subarus seatbelt chime

How to stop the annoying seatbelt alert for the driver in a Subaru.
1. Turn the vehicle ignition to "on", but don't fully start the vehicle.
2. Buck and unbuckle the drivers seatbelt 20x in less than 30 seconds. Don't do it too fast, or it won't register.
3. Turn the vehicle off by pressing the start button again, without your foot on the brake.
4. Open and close the driver door to make sure that the system is fully shut off.
5. Start the car and exceed 10kms/hr to confirm that the chime has been deactivated.

This worked on my 2016 Forester. However it came back. I didn't disconnect the battery or anything, it just out of the blue started chiming again. Did it again and it's off again. I wonder why it came back?

Does this also silence the alarms for the rear seats? My dog keeps setting them off 😢

Just picked up a 2024 Crosstrek which is markedly better than my 2013 Impreza but I will keep that till the wheels fall off. There's at least two dozen things I like about the newer car and I've only had it a week ...perhaps the only nagging thing was the seatbelt chime ...this is an awesome Subaru hack.

I have written previously that it does not work on Forester 2025 models. Well it does! The secret is that you have to turn on the push button twice to get to accessories and then do the 20X latch unlatch all within the 30 seconds. Including the switching on. All in the 30 secs.

I don't want to disable the chime for the front seats, but I really do need to turn it off for the rear seats especially the middle one. Any way to do that?
