fourth track on The Dark Side of the Moon (1973) and was released as a single in the United States. Bassist Roger Waters wrote the lyrics and the music is credited to all four band members. Keyboardist Richard Wright shares lead vocals
The lyrics deal with the passage of time – time can slip by, but many people do not realise it until it is too late. Waters got the idea when he realised he was no longer preparing for anything in life, but was right in the middle of it.
its long introductory passage of clocks chiming and alarms ringing, recorded as a quadrophonic test by Alan Parsons, not specifically for the album

I'm 14 years old. I listen to this song everyday, wondering where I will be in life decades from now. It sucks that good music like this isn't being produced anymore.

An absolute masterpiece in music history. Pink Floyd is in another level. I am just a young boy that totally missed their generation but thanks to technology I got to know and love this incredible band. Respect

This probably the greatest song in the history of human-kind. If the lyrics don't hit you in the gut then you probably are ignoring your eventual mortality.

“Time” was my first introduction to Pink Floyd back in 73 and how Pink Floyd became my first concert, Chicago Amphitheater March 7, 1973. A couple of hours before the concert a friend’s brother said he could get us in a side door, he knew the guys on security. I jumped into the car with 3 friends and the five of us, squeezed into a Toyota, went to Chicago 35 miles away. With smoke rolling out of the windows at times we made it there without getting busted and went around to the side door and snuck in. A great time for all then to Gino’s for pizza. Because Time was a favorite on mine that was being played on the airwaves I jumped into the car without any hesitations.

Sometimes when a certain group of musicians come together something magical happens. Pink Floyd was certainly one of those times.

Pink Floyd has been apart of my life since 1970s. Every album a chapter in my life along this physical journey. This band is Awesome and I got to grow up in the 60s and 70s best years ever.

The best concert I have ever seen. Gives me chills just thinking of it. No words good enough to explain how magnificent it was. Once in a lifetime experience.

I am 59 yrs old, & have been listening to Pink Floyd since I was 7 yrs old when I got my first handheld transistors radio, When I was a in Jr, high this song was a smash hit & the background theme music for WLS rock Radio out of Chicago the only real rock Radio I could get at night in the small south central town in Southern Mo. I lived in, I graduated High School in 1980, In 1979 The Wall album came out & Shook the World, It virtually became the soundtrack for my Generation, In 1994 My Wife & I finally got to see them live at Kansas City's Arrowhead stadium, To this day everytime I hear the start of a Pink Floyd song, My Mind races back to that wonderful June Night, & The Memories of that show make Goose bumps appear on me just like all those years ago, So to say that I grew up with this music is not enough, This Music has Always been an Inspiration to my life, & always will be, I always Introduce Their Music to people I care about, Lately My 7 yr old granddaughter & I have been watching the Division Bell tour on Video and she is amazed by them, Just go to shows, across all genres, & Generations, Rock on Pink Floyd💖

Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
Fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your hometown
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way

Tired of lying in the sunshine, staying home to watch the rain
You are young and life is long, and there is time to kill today
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

And you run, and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way but you're older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death

Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time
Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way

The time is gone, the song is over, thought I'd something more to say

Home, home again
I like to be here when I can
And when I come home cold and tired
It's good to warm my bones beside the fire
Far away across the field
The tolling of the iron bell
Calls the faithful to their knees
To hear the softly spoken magic spells

As a 13 year old, this is one of my top 3 favorite songs of all times. Most modern music sucks. Therefore, I have always listened to bands like the eagles and Pink Floyd. I just love this song it brings me so much joy.

The best band at their peak performance. (Comfortably Numb with the second guitar lead. Pure mastery from the planners, road crew, recording engineers, guitar and instrument techs, and light crew.

It has it all: Poignant lyrics. I’m older now and hope to have Pulse songs playing as I fade away. I love the Beatles, but Pink Floyd reaches me deeper at this stage. I may leave this world with your beautiful music this year. After all, we can’t live forever. Thank you PF.

Ещё в своей молодости я слушал эту гениальнейшую музыку с благоговением и вот уже жизнь прошла, а я всё также с придыханием замираю и вслушиваюсь в каждую ноту, и наслаждаюсь каждой нотой!..

The best of Pink Floyd is Roger’s creativity and lyrics and Gilmour’s guitar skills put together. That is why “ Dark Side of the Moon” and “The Wall” are their greatest works.
