“You have to be prepared to lose everybody” is so horrible but so very true. I’m in the process of learning how to stay strong if/when it happens to me

I thought that was his mom sitting in front of him

If your parents don't accept you, pack up your stuff, I'm your mother now.

Yo, he's so strong, I'm proud of him

It was very mature of him to recognize early on when he was trying to come out that his mom was going through something and he didn't want to add to it. It's sad that she couldn't give him the same courtesy when he was going through trying to tell her and she rejected him. I'm so happy he still learned empathy when it clearly wasn't taught.

If you're going to have a kid, then you better be ready to accept who they are!! You never know who they will turn out to be. 👶

What a twist, the dad was more accepting. He waited so long to find the right time to tell his mother, but she still didn't accept him. Feel for him.

I would accept my kid if they were gay or straight or whatever they are

If my son ever feels scared to tell me who he is, I have failed him.
My baby boy is my baby. I love him. I grew him within me. He is exactly who and what he is supposed to be. And I will love him and support him always.

I find that religion makes you feel dirty about things that should be normal.  You carry around this baggage that is not necessary.  Living your life in "sin" is really heavy.  I still carry around my bag of sins but at my age I have learned to move forward and not worry so much.

I feel badly for the guy, but I'm glad that a "negative" story is being shared instead of these sunshine and rainbows stories I hear about coming out. Only seeing positive coming out stories can be really isolating when your parents didn't accept you. Thankfully, my mom has come around, but for a long time I felt like nobody cared about my experience.

This is making me cry so much, recently came out to my parents and they didn't take it well. She was saying that I'm confused and Jesus right now is telling her that her daughter is confused. I relate to the girls story so much. My mom also said not to tell my friends because they won't accept me but really they were so accepting and supportive. I was never worried about my friends, I was worried about my family's reaction. Grew up in a really Mexican family, now I'm the first gay person out in both sides of my family. I don't know how I'm going to do it in family parties.

As a parent who had their daughter come out to them in her teens, I felt this kids story so much. If your child is gay or straight or bisexual or trans or pan, SUPPORT THEM! Love your children unconditionally without limits. I wouldn't want to EVER not have my daughter in my life, and who she chooses to be with and love has nothing to do with what kind of heart she has. I Love my child with my whole heart and hearing these stories that parents don't even talk to their kids anymore because they have come out to them....makes me physically sick to my stomach. To anyone else going through this....surround yourself with a great support group and it will get better! <3 #Proudmom #Lovewhoyoulove #supportyourgaychild
