27:35 you must remember that in Harry’s year, all of those kids were born during a pretty violent time for wizards. Typically, less kids are born during times of war.

03:58 Harry was actually brought to the Dursley's on the night of November 1st, but as a Brit that now lives in North America I can confirm that we definitely don't decorate our houses anywhere near as much as you guys do for Halloween (maybe the odd house with pumpkins on the doorstep)

I don't think it's ever been officially confirmed, but my theory about Hagrid's wand is that Dumbledore repaired it with the Elder wand (as Harry did with his own wand), but they had to hide the wand in the umbrella because Hagrid was not supposed to have one. I also suspect that Dumbledore taught Hagrid magic after he was expelled.

I like that in the extended lore, not all Slytherin's are evil and not all Gryffindor's are heroes. Merlin was a Slytherin and Pettigrew was a Gryffindor after all.

"Mischief Managed" is the perfect way to end each video in this series, soo excited to see the rest of it.

Also not sure if someone else commented this but you didn't mention that both of the Phoenix feathers that are in Harry and Voldemort's wands' came from Fawkes.

Awesome video! - The Super Carlin Brothers actually theorised the reason for fewer children in Harry's year being down to the many lost lives, and families fleeing during the wizarding war and the height of Voldermort's reign of terror. So, theoretically, the older and younger years would have more children.

We will be releasing these Harry Potter breakdowns every Saturday on this channel through the end of the year! What other past film series would you like to see New Rockstars revisit in 2025?

1:02:12 Harry Potter is for ALL ages. If you enjoy the books/movies, say at 10 years old, then enjoy them as a child. At 20, as a young adult. At 30 as an adult…. Etc.
At 60, like me, then as an older adult.
Again, it’s for all ages, if you were lucky enough to be 10 when the series was first being released, I’m envious. You can revisit these stories through your decades of life and bring your current mindset with you. In that way, you can identify with all of the characters, what a treat that is.

Yeah, Neville and Harry don't share the same birthday. Neville's birthday is July 30, and Harry's is July 31

I always thought it was a worse stereotype for Seamus to be blowing things up throughout the whole series... Why would someone from England create an Irish character during the late 80's, early 90's that kept making explosions...? 😬

In the movie Hagrid said he got fluffy from an Irish fella but in the book he got it from a greek fella because Cerberus is from greek mythology

Man, this breakdown brought me back to my childhood. The Harry Potter books were actually the reason I learned the English language. These books were also the reason I opened a dictionary. These books helped me a lot especially whenever I feel down. They will always remain precious to me.

For reference in the future deep dives, the town is Little "WINJ-ing" and Dursley is pronounced throughout the moves as "DURZ-lee". Not complaining or judging, just informing.

You mentioned the fact that it's Philosopher's Stone in Britain, and Sorcerer's Stone in the US, because the American publisher didn't think the US kids would get the reference. I noticed that in the beginning they also changed some words in at least the first two books from British words like JUMPER & TRAINERS to the American SWEATER & SNEAKERS for example. The later books didn't have as many adjustments.

Great breakdown! A few items I would add:

- Harry does meet Malfoy earlier in the book and he doesn't like him immediately because he reminds him of Dudley

-There is a scene of the trio and Hagrid where you can see Emma mouthing the other's lines (love kid actors)

- Rupert got injured in the chess scene, you can see it in the movie where there is a gash that appears on his face from flying debris

-Please mention something that needs to not change in the TV show is that Ravenclaw needs to keep the Eagle and bronze colors, all of the movie items for purchase change their house to be a raven and silver as the secondary color!

Overall amazing work!

Philosopher’s stone > Sorcerer’s stone

Can we talk about how Ravenclaw's mascot from the books was not a raven? It was an eagle. Go Ravenclaws btw.
