I’m doing my best to familiarize myself with the story before playing Hogwarts Legacy. The game looks fun despite the fact that it’s the kind of genre I haven’t really played before and it’s based on the kind of books I don’t read in the movies I don’t really watch.

It’s difficult for me to wrap my head around everything when there are so many unusual words. Unusual names of characters, names of places, names of monsters, names of spells and magic and potions… It’s difficult for me to keep everything straight.

I’ve been watching the films and then watching these recaps. I’m still confused about several things, hopefully they’ll be answered in later films.

For instance, in this movie, why did the pet spider attack Harry and company? Hagrid sent them to the spider so he must have thought the spider was going to be friendly. And the spider did provide them with information… But then why provide information if you’re just going to try and kill them with your spider army?

Why did Voldemort want to kill Harry’s parents and Harry himself? I guess there is a bloodline situation. I presume Harry comes from some kind of super powerful lineage because why would Voldemort, whom we are told is almost all powerful, get defeated by a baby? A baby! Voldemort is either a total fraud or there is some thing immensely powerful about Harry that the audience (and Harry) doesn’t know yet.

This is also the second film in a row where the dark arts teacher’s is actually bad. So we will have three different films with three different dark arts teachers? Will there be a different dark arts teacher in every movie? Is that building to something as well?

He didn't know Rakepick was a member of R, he didn't know Quirrell had Voldemort on the back of his head (but suspected it later on), he didn't know Lockhart was a fraud (but suspected him), he knew Lupin was a werewolf (but he had him there because Sirius escaped), he didn't know Moody was impersonated by BCJ (who was a Death Eater), he was forced to hire Umbridge, he hired Snape knowing he was going to die later that year, and he died after that, so he had no control over Amycus Carrow.
